Yep that's what I mean. Just got my email that Target Exclusive Blu is ready for pickup and can now cancel the Best Buy Steelbook.

Picked up the Target, Best Buy and Walmart exclusives for my collection today. The 4K versions of the Target and BB exclusives are in short supply. Walmart looks more plentiful on their Rubik's cube version. Looked through 8 copies of that one and most had banged up boxes.

To me, the movie gives the same sense of light, fun, fast, clever, family-friendly adventure as the Star Wars OT, 1980s Indiana Jones movies and the first 2 Superman movies. Although the setting in Ready Player One is extremely modern and topical, the movie's style and tone was a total throwback to the past and I loved it for that. Visually, the movie is eye-popping, delightful and original. I'm not sure that Spielberg has told a story visually this well since Raiders of the Lost Ark. There is not a single wasted shot in this movie. There isn't a moment when the images are not propelling the story forward. One of my new all-time favorite movies. Saw it 3 times in the theater and will watch it many more times at home.

And interestingly the cover art of Target's 4K exclusive is the same as the regular 4K even though that art doesn't match the lenticular slip at all.

My Target only had 4 copies of the exclusive available. 2 for Blu-Ray and 2 for 4K.

I pre-ordered this from VUDU, got my digital copy 2 weeks ago and today, my bluray Walmart exclusive came in.

They packaged it properly, no crushed box, everything was very secure in a large enough box. However, since it comes in a larger box with that rubic's cube keychain, the bluray has NO SLIPCOVER! I'd rather have a slipcover than this silly little keychain.

Oh well.....at least I have the movie on bluray....I'll he happy to have that.

My Target only got 5 copies of the 4K exclusive edition, and they were all claimed before the store opened at 8am for in-store pickup orders. Luckily one of those was me.

I'd assume they got roughly the same number of BD exclusive sets, as they had 2 of those out on display, presumably the others were on hold.

Not mine.
Just one little speck of paper from the insert that I blew off.

That's a shame.

My guess it happened at the factory. Perhaps it fell on the floor and got kicked around a bit and got all scratched up and some employee just picked it up and put it in the case.

That's going to be a massive list. Just randomly pausing the movie during the third act in any scene and your bound to find several in any given frame...

Really wished the movie had more special features or at least a commentary from Spielberg. I miss the days when movies came loaded with extra features. On the plus side the movie looks gorgeous & the sound is fantastic.

Yeah, well, the era of extras-loaded discs is long, long gone.

Sadly Spielberg has never done an audio commentary on any of his films as far as I know.

Missed opportunity for sure.

I don't even think that any of the films that he's directed has audio commentaries at all, by anyone.

Some that he produced does have audio commentaries by others, but not by him.

Yeah,Spielberg doesn't do commentaries for his films.George Lucas said once that's why there are no commentaries on the Indiana Jones disk releases.

I can understand him not wanting to do audio commentaries, but why forbid anyone else for doing them on the films he directed.

It would have been good to hear the actors talking about doing the Indiana Jones films. Perhaps during the truck sequence in Raiders have the stunt man talk about his scene in that. Or have the ILM crew talk about doing the effects in specific scenes in the trilogy.

Sure featurettes are good and all, but watching a film while the cast or crew talk about specific scenes is even better imo.

And I watched the entire 2 hour behind the scenes. I know he’s never done commentaries but Spielberg always seems so enthusiastic about his films. I can imagine what a commentary might be like. Who am I to argue with one of the best directors of this generation.
