Really? That's already been explored though. What about Tosche Station? They sell really cheap power converters.

Why can't they just leave the OT alone and move on to bigger and better Star Wars stories. Such as my personal favorite Star Wars: Legacy. It really has it all and takes place 100 years from the OT.

[Show spoiler]
Who knows where the new trilogy will take us? I guess we'll see how things turn out regarding those plans.

I want to see a Jedi Vs Sith film. I'm hankering for some Force-related mysticism with some political intrigue and brutal sabre duels. I'm done with the rebels, the Empire and their imitators. Gimme something to get my teeth into.

Posted this in the Boba Fett thread, but it makes more sense here...

I had an idea for a standalone focusing on Bail Organa. I liked his cameo in Rogue One, which was like adding connective tissue between the PT and the OT. I thought he was a character I want to see more of, especially since I like Jimmy Smits in the role.

So how about a story set between Episodes III and Rogue One, but focused on Bail, Breha and Alderaan? The hook is that the Emperor is tightening his grip on power and is using Vader to hunt down remaining Jedi, to the point where they're interrogating people with known affiliations or sympathies with the Jedi. Bail is the only outsider who knows about Obi-Wan, Yoda, and the truth about Luke and Leia. He also has valuable knowledge of the individual Rebel cells like Saw Guerera, Enfys Nest and the Ghost crew. And all that makes him a high value target if his secret ever gets out.

The Emperor's moves are making it increasingly difficult for Bail to operate as the Empire gets closer and closer to figuring out that he knows something. Corrupt officials within the Alderaanian government place added pressure on him to commit their planet to potentially lucrative deals that benefit the Empire. Meanwhile, he considers joining the ever-growing Alliance of systems opposed to Palpatine's rule.

Perhaps sold out by those corrupt rivals within the Alderaanian council, Bail goes from a person of interest, to being surveilled, to being hunted. All the while he has to play it cool, until he's forced to commit publicly to the Rebel Alliance. Which brings Alderaan to the Emperor's attention...

Yoda and Obi-Wan could figure in the story as far as the Maguffin being sought/protected.

The only way I would want to see the continuing adventures of a young Luke, Leia, and Han, is if it were done as a CG-animated film with Mark and Harrison returning to voice their roles. As for Leia, they could get Catherine Taber from The Clone Wars, or use archived audio of Carrie Fisher.

As for Grace Randloph's recasting ideas, she seems to be ignoring a very obvious difference with her Obi-Wan comparison - we had never seen his younger self before that and Ewan McGregor made a purposeful effort to mimic Alec Guinness more with each film.

That's a good idea, I have just one thing to nitpick about: Bail is just the senator, he is not the leader of Alderaan. His wife is the queen.

Ugh... do a Luke film too, we can see him fix moisture vaperators. Disney has no clue, just keep digging the knife in the backs of the OT characters.

Tatooine land-speeder racing. Maybe get some pod-racer cameos in there too.

It would have to be strictly alien podracers, since Anakin was the only human able to do it.

You could probably have human participants that crash. It'd still be just fine.

Anakin tells Padme that even he crashed in a previous race, thanks to Sebulba cheating. Watto agrees that Anakin actually saved his podracer, for the most part. This shows that even the most powerful Force-using human in the galaxy still had trouble with the sport...so if you include other humans as racers, it reduces Anakin's uniqueness in that regard. You expect other Jedi to use lightsabers, so Anakin carrying one is no big deal. But there were certain capabilities he had that others didn't, both in and away from the Order...and they should be maintained.

Not really. It doesn't say anywhere that Humans NEVER took part in races. It just implied that whichever Human did enter, never finished or even qualified. So you could, have other Human characters, that crash and burn (full grown adults) which still would not take away from a Human child winning.

Throw in some Jawas, Sandpeople, and a little romance and you've got yourself a film!
Is it weird that I really like this idea? Disney is incapable of making a pulpy 70s style film like that though.

You know there's only one movie we want to see...

Except that I don't know if they can even make it. Ol Georgie make it verboten to explore Yoda in the EU, and might have carried that into the sale contract.

The dialogue in Anakin's home is pretty plain on the subject.

Anakin: "Has anyone ever been to a podrace?"
Qui-Gon: "They have podracing on Malistair. Very fast, very dangerous."
Anakin: "I'm the only human who can do it."
Qui-Gon: "You must have Jedi reflexes, if you race pods."

Then later, Qui-Gon's conversation with Shmi brings more light...

Qui-Gon: "You should be very proud of your son. He gives without any thought of reward."
Shmi: "He knows nothing of greed. He..." [she trails off]
Qui-Gon: "He has special powers. He can see things before they happen. That's why he appears to have such quick reflexes; its a Jedi trait."
