The Arrow blu-ray is just all around better looking than the lame Shameless blu-ray, judging by the screencaps.

Right. New transfer vs old transfer with Shameless compression errors added is no contest.

A/B'ed the BU and Arrow. Arrow all the way. Some things like DNR you can see in screencaps and assume they'll look bad in motion, but the scanner noise is different. Sometimes they are very ugly in caps (Killer Nun) and sometimes not (Bird). While Torso BU caps look alright for the most part, in motion they look like frozen grain while watching the movie. And theyre visible in bright whites, which looks unnatural. Arrow looks nicceeee

Arrow also doesnt use yellow subtitles, which is a plus. I do not like anything other than white subs. I have never seen yellow subs in a theater.

There is some gore but this giallo is one of the best to me, just an excellent work of suspense and dread.

I am with you, simply my favorite and I am stoked that Arrow gave this the treatment.

Now we need a US version of the Blood Stained Shadow, The Case of the Bloody Iris and Who Saw Her Die and all will be well!

Amazon Canada has cancelled many Arrow releases lately. I have no idea why but it's pretty annoying. I'll order through other channels, the hell with them.

I just purchased this on Bull Moose for 23.97. That isn't the best price ever but it's certainly better than Amazon, and I don't want to miss out on that booklet.

The movie sound great and I'm looking forward to watching.

WOW! VERY impressed with this new transfer from Arrow. Once you make it past the intentionally blurry sex scene that opens the film, that first shot in the lecture hall is crystal clear! The screencaps do not do justice to how good this release looks.

After watching this new Arrow release, I realized the ending of the film was also ruined on the old release(s).
[Show spoiler]After the screams, the scene where a guy is approaching Jane (Suzy Kendall) is too bright and its face is easily recognizable on the previous release, while it's darker and a bit blurry until it shows Luc Merenda on the Arrow release, which makes more sense.
And I think Arrow is more accurate.
Arrow did a splendid job

The Arrow version may be more authentic, but it looks so *dark* to me. I actually much prefer the lighter BU version. The difference in some shots seems literally to be day and night. The Arrow color timing loses detail because it's so dark. I guess owning two versions: the BU and the new Arrow is the way to go.

DVDBeaver has their review up. Look at the fifth set of captures. I know these links won't work, but these are the URLs:

Just look at the hat she is wearing. With the Blue Underground, it looks like the hat is made out of paper towels.

BU version looks too BRIGHT in comparison to Arrow's and the colour scheme on the BU release is way off as the older Arrow Tenebrae and Cat O Nine Tails which were also scanned by miserable losers, LVR.
All I can see BU's Torso is frozen scanner noise, fake sharpening and overly bright colours/gamma.

My copy is on the way from the BN Arrow sale, so excited to see this transfer, thank you for the reflections.

Yes, I know Arrow is beyond reproach, I guess I'm just so used to the bright BU that I need to readjust my expectations. The hat capture at beaver is like a day-for-night capture in the Arrow release... Is the apparent contrast increase merely fake in the BU or does the Arrow still contain all of that "revealed" info in the lighter transfer? What is absolutely certain is that the Arrow transfer and encode is miles ahead of any other version.

I usually tend to like the brighter version when there is a choice, but with this comparison I feel just the opposite. The Arrow shot seems way more realistic to me and the BU one feels very unnatural. I don’t see how the BU one has a ”contrast increase” either, on the contrary to my eye there’s more contrast on the Arrow.

I only have the BU version and I remember thinking the PQ was quite good but now after watching the caps I guess I have to get the the Arrow one too.
