I got my copy of Monty Python and The Holy Grail today and had to pay $14 in COD fees for ordering from Deepdiscount. I wouldn't have bothered if I knew I'd be charged extra just for them to get it to me. They used RR DONNELLY and ePost to get it to me in Canada. Then I found out the Blu-ray has a big scratch on it. The 4K disc looks fine though. I'd just rather not pay $70 for a damaged product that I wouldn't have to have imported if Sony just sold it in Canada in the first place. Steelbook is fine but I don't want to deal with returning it just to be charged again.

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them before and never been charged extra for shipping so something has definitely changed as it wasn't duties or tariffs. Has anyone had experience with getting replacements through Deepdiscount before? A lot of my stuff comes damaged from them tbh.

There doesn't seem to be an affordable source to obtain these SteelBooks not released in Canada. Sony and Disney/Fox releases are particularly expensive everywhere you look.

I've been ordering items like this from Zavvi. Still gonna cost somewhere in the region of $70. But I have better luck with getting unscratched discs from Europe than from North America. (I say better luck because the scratched disc plague seems to be happening everywhere to some extent or another.)

Zavvi sends goods by Royal Mail -> Canada Post, so you can take advantage of the $80 limit loophole and avoid customs fees and sales taxes. Packages also have tracking (unlike Rarewaves). Another possibility is Amazon Italy, but the shipping fees there are steep.

Yeah I thought I'd save myself $10 by going with Deepdiscount and ended up paying $14 extra in COD and getting a damaged case and Blu-ray. I'm kicking myself for not going through Zavvi because the EU doesn't have these problems with their discs. Deepdiscount only offered me 20% back which I turned down since I'm unable to watch the specials features or the main film on the Blu-ray. Waiting to see what my options are as it's backordered so I don't think they'll be able to send me a replacement. I'll likely get hit with more fees if I have to return it anyway and could end up with a dented steelbook or more scratched discs.
