I agree! I was wondering the same thing. It's way too early in the game to discuss anything about this release, and It seems like the website was too eager to post this announcement because, it's still 8 months away.

Is it just me who read the review at the bottom of the front cover as a substitute for swearing?

"A ****ing knockout!"

I was just getting ready to do a watch through of the BR but thought i would hold off to see if a UHD version would be released. Now just have to wait and hope it looks good PQ wise.

The extended cut is only 8 minutes longer and does not contain any new scenes, only bits cut to make scenes tighter.

Pacing is PRETTY MUCH THE SAME. If you don't like is because you fall on the category of "I don't like alternate cuts to movies". That's all right, just don't blame it on the pacing.

The extended cut was not prepared expressly for dvd like Gladiator or Kingdom of Heaven, it already existed (no Scott involvement on the release). It is basically a precut before they (Scott, Bruckheimer, the studio, whoever) decided the film should not go beyond the 150 minute mark. Because of that, it gives a fascinating glimpse into last minute editorial decisions.

No, I like alternate cuts.
As I clearly said it's the only one of Scott's I didn't like...
Reading and caps locks are fundamental.
And the pacing is fupped on it

+ Good movie
+ From Sony

I saw it in the theater and really liked it. Not sure I'm jonesing to watch it again but if it goes on sale (like Apollo 13 did for $13) I'll probably bite.

If you've never seen the movie I recommend getting the disc. It's a rare modern military movie that really works.

Then I'd recommend the two docs from the Deluxe Edition DVD (likely on YouTube by now). The film is its own, different animal.

Funny/ironic omen: I served Bana lunch the other day.

It's Sony. We're good! And it would be highly out of character for this not to be reference PQ and stellar HDR grade

I'm in trouble.
First I didn't realize the Blade Runner 2049 intro was loud (really loud) and shaking my house and now this movie is coming out. My neighbours will sue me.

Yes it is faithful to the book and even though they got some things wrong in the movie it is basically what happened. All the audio over the airwaves came from the book which was recorded so that is all verbatim to the true soldiers. I was so blown away the first time i watched the movie that i read the book and Tom Sizemore's character did act like nothing was going on to keep his troops from getting scared and his character did steer a Humvee after glass from an RPG went into the driver's eyes.

I presume this is a May release because Memorial Day will help with sales as I bought Saving Private Ryan in May 2018.
