Which is exactly what I meant, Laurie has the only real story here but the movies have never been through Michael’s perspective before with all the POV shots. The doctor was just too odd & the teens just serve as failed plot devices & the podcasters served no purpose other than being exposition. Not hating on the film, I still enjoyed it quite a bit, but I can understand the criticisms.

Laurie needed more screen time IMO, I was really surprised by how little she is in the first two thirds of the movie.

I agree.

The fight with Michael at the end was way too short. All those years of planning and she confronts him in a short amount of time. If it wasn't for her daughter and granddaughter, she may have even been killed (but heck, now that I think of it if it wasn't for Dr. Loomis, she may have died in the original too lol ).

What frustrated me about this movie more than anything though, was this was marketed as *the* final confrontation of Michael and Laurie, and yet based on the ending, it clearly is not. I felt kind of cheated and that's why I prefer Halloween II (1981), because it was a solid ending for Michael, Laurie and Dr. Loomis.

I too was hoping for more of a battle between the two. He should have stalked her again, and there should have been some more close calls for her. After all those years ,even being prepared, we should have seen a little bit of weakness in her or at least some more fear....but she was all too bad ass and had no fear of him. Heck, at least in Rocky films, we see Rocky get beat up real good before he gains his second breath and wins the fights. LOL. The battle between them was over much too quick.

I love Halloween 2 but I disagree. Laurie was in that movie for 20 minutes and does nothing of note.

People are saying that Michael should have stalked Laurie, but that wasn't his motivation in this. The trigger was the mask....Aaron holding the mask and provoking Michael. What does he do as soon as he gets out? He kills Aaron and Dana. Case closed. After that he does what THE SHAPE does. He kills on Halloween night. Which by golly he did. Going door to door and completely slaying.

I like that Laurie wasn't the target. They were 2 forces that eventually collided (which btw is what Sartain wanted all along...and I'm one of the VERY few who loved found him completely interesting).

People are so used to Michael stalking family like in the sequels, that I think his motivation in this one is a bit jarring. Not to me. This was Carpenter's initial intention of the character. Just a force. A shape that does one thing. Kills.

I dug the hell out of it.

Exactly. Also didn’t bother me that it had 3 strong female characters instead of 1.

I loved the 3 generations of badass women. The Judy Greer moment was awesome.

I usually buy my blurays through Amazon or Best Buy and I was waiting on the inevitable price drop on this... but I randomly went on Ebay and found a brand new "Buy It Now" copy with slipcover for $12.99. SOLD!

I liked the ensemble approach to Haddonfield, they've almost got a Dazed and Confused thing going on with their characters. As someone who loves the film though, I do acknowledge its issues, one being that more screentime is necessary to get the most out of that approach. They need about thirty more minutes for more scenes and to allow current scenes to breathe more.

Wasn’t the first cut longer? I’d be interested to see that version one of these days.

I could see why every deleted scene was removed from the film... but some seemed to be missing. Where is the scene where Laurie is outside charging at Michael (?) with a knife?

Also, the one thing I would change about this film is the final standoff. It could be been much more exciting. The stuff with the dark rooms and mannequins wasn't good enough in my opinion.

EDIT:

Referring to the bits starting right here at 2:14.

I woulda liked the scene with Cameron kept in, at least it woulda properly closed the door on his character instead of him just disappearing without a trace.

Just went through all the deleted scenes and I can't say I missed any of them. Suicide Thoughts definitely wasn't as impactful for Laurie's first scene, Shower Mask Visit was just frustrating to watch (Leaving the mask on the toilet right next to the shower, it's gonna get wet!), Jog to a Hanging Dog was bizarre (Why would Michael go to the trouble of tying up the dead dog and suspending it from a tree? He's more likely to just eat the dog and leave it on the ground. Not to mention the dead dog didn't really look that real.), Allyson and Friends at School was probably the only one I didn't really dislike (I just didn't care much about the Cameron character so one less scene with him in it wasn't bad for me!), absolutely hated Cameron and Cops Don't Mix (Cameron wasn't deserving of any forgiveness especially since it didn't give us anything but a reason why Michael didn't kill him off. Allyson's phone was still broken and she was still leaving the school anyway.), Deluxe Banh Mi Cops was just slowing down the movie, and finally Sartain and Hawkins Ride Along was just strange (I think it was meant to give us a hint towards Sartain's lack of saneness but we really didn't need it. He just came across as a creep in this deleted scene.).

When this first came out, everyone I know was going nuts for the opening credits sequence, and I'm just not seeing this, watched the credits and am like.....really? That's it?

It's because it's the first time we'd seen the credits done that way in any of the Halloween movies since the second one. That's it, really.

So people were creaming their shorts for....that?

This might be the most overrated movie I've seen since AVATAR. From a pure filmmaking point of view, it's terrible on every level. There is next to no character development and instead of taking it's time to tell the exact same story as the original film, it's jumping all over the place.

This movie makes the Busta Rhymes sequel look like an Oscar contender.
