Actually screw both Black Panther, and Fallout, Infinity War should be a BP nominee

That's my argument.
It's like:

You think Cruise jumping out a plane over a hundred times, and him breaking his ankle was all for naught?

I want Black Panther to win Best Picture just to watch people having aneurysms over the fact that it won.

Fallout has a better score, better direction, better stunts, better CGI, better story (even if somewhat lacking - but come on the plot is better than angry kid wants to take down country and last like...3 days)....
Better stunts, yes. They are what carry the film. BP is rich with meaning and symbolism. M:I is hollow.

What keeps Black Panther from greatness for me is that the action movie aspect / ending were such typical bland Marvel fare, in an otherwise atypically rich Marvel movie. TDK, for example, never feels bland or falls back on formula, and at the end of the day feels like a drama. BP didn't need to fall on formula, but they did anyway, and at the end of the day feels like a Marvel action movie (just a very good one).

Black Panther was much more than some "popcorn flim" though. It was a huge a phenomenon and was extremely culturally relevant. A movie like this doesn't gross $700 million domestically every day. At the end of the day, Fallout was just another "popcorn" movie that gets churned out every summer and ends up snubbed at awards time. It didn't make near what Black Panther made and wasn't near as relevant culturally. Not to mention it's a sequel and sequels don't get a lot of awards love usually. Especially the 6th one in a franchise. Once Black Panther started shattering box office records and became a national story and conversation piece culturally, the writing was on the wall in regards to its awards chances. It's the single reason that the Oscars canceled their new "Best Popular Film" category.

I agree with you about the CGI, but barring that Black Panther is still one of the best movies Marvel has made since The Winter Solider. It is a far better film than a lot of what they've done lately (aside from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). And IT...IS...THAT... GOOD...TO...GET...THE...HYPE...ALL...THE...HYPE. Mission Impossible: Fallout was good, but it was not some great cinematic masterpiece. The story lacks and the stunts seem to be there to show off what Tom can do on his own and top the last movie he did where he did all his own stunts. I really like Fallout a lot, but it's not close to being as good as Black Pather. Realize it. Dream it. Live it. Cause that's the truth.

Very weak, especially the final fight scene. Even the waterfall fights were disappointing. Casino scene felt like the only scene where Ryan Coogler actually put effort in.

I'm surprised Burning and Cold War got snubbed in the foreign language category.

Good to see Darren Criss continue to get recognition for The Assassination of Gianni Versace. He’s amazing in it and that series overall was just chilling and creepy!

I think A Star Is Born has it dead to rights, Beale Street seems a bit muted in terms of awards buzz, I don't think Black Panther has enough clout in other caragories to really make a push, that said I think Disney will be really pushing for it here to jet off the momentum.

For other stuff, pretty happy BlacKkKlansman has picked up a Best Drama nod, looked like it was going to get overshadowed. A bit gutted First Man has gotten overlooked, Chazelle deserved better.

so tired of the whole "so and so got snubbed"
look just because the person in the movie you saw and loved didn't get nominated, doesn't mean they were snubbed.

Basically what you are saying is that the other people weren't deserving of their nomination when the truth is, you probably didnt even see there performance.

Not realizing anything. I think the movie is over-hyped trash and worse than Thor: The Dark World.

Rad soundtrack, tho.

Yes, every summer popcorn film has it's lead actor train for three years with stunt helicopters and break their ankles to make a non-shaky cam, audience involved film that also doesn't have Fast & Furious level acting - but rather a solid, top tier cast. Gotcha.

I can agree with that, Ragnarok especially. GOTG relies too much on 70's music to say the score is great, I do love certain pieces from Tyler's scores but overall the soundtrack heavily outweighs it. Cap has a few tracks that are good, but for an overall score - yeah, Thor is hands down the best of the lot for it. Especially his "main" theme.
