I own the Arrow BD I paid $45 for, the Italian 4K set and the 1080p Italian Argento cut replacement.

Will still dip for both this and the German Complete Cut metalpak DiabolikDVD has been periodically selling.

Still got mine too, plus the Arrow BD as it remains the best of a bad 1080p bunch, plus the Spanish BD of the Argento cut which isn't actually half bad, audio sync issues aside. Had the AB Blu-ray but sold it a while back, also had a French BD of the Argento cut but the transfer was poor. The less said about the awful Italian remaster the better.

[edit] I completely forgot that I've not got the Arrow, but instead have the Aussie Umbrella Blu-ray which ports the Arrow BD's video and audio over bit for bit and adds its own extras. Cost me like a tenner but it's now OOP or something?

A day one pre-order. SS have been on a role recently and I strongly suspect this could be a definitive package.

My biggest issue with the master used for the Anchor Bay DVD and BD as well as the Arrow BD is that godawful ghosting.

Funnily enough it's less obvious on the DVD compared to the BD's.

That could just be the lower resolution making it less noticeable though. I honestly don't know.

EIV choosing not to release it (rather than Universal) is not as surprising. Still doesn't make a lot of business sense as it would have been a good seller.

It's pretty clear by the ad for this on this site, there is no new scan. Which is the only way in hell I'd buy this yet again. Someone seriously needs to pony up the cash and get the film(theatrical) scanned in at least 4K, with a bit of cleanup. I mean the film has attained such a following at this point that a new scan would see this sell like hotcakes. But, looks like the wait for me continues....

What are you talking about??? What Ad? Second sight have done nothing more than tease this on their social media and no info/specs have been released yet so no one has a clue except SS.

We all need to chill a little tbh! This could be the best thing since sliced bread or a complete fail, we just don't know. All I know is SS have been excellent recently and I for one will be pre-ordering this and getting it Day one in the hope of the latter. Right now I trust SS better than any other Bluray distributor so at least it's in good hands.

You're referring to the news section on the homepage. It's not an ad. It is a slither of news referencing what Second Sight has revealed on its social media accounts - just that it has the rights for Dawn Of The Dead. That's it. Anything more is speculation.

I have it on good authority that the infamous 'Ferman cut' will be included on the disc too, which is great news!

Sadly, it's only 7 minutes long.

It’s funny the only version I’ve ever owned of this was the Ultimate Edition DVD set that I bought on a whim for my girlfriend* about 10 years ago. I never upgraded to Blu because it seemed that each release had its own set of flaws, as documented here on this site. I hope that this release will rival the UE dvd set and greatly surpass it quality wise. That’s what I’ve been patiently waiting for at least. I have hope with this release, but I’m not overly hopeful.

*Fun fact: I married her so now it’s just a part of my (our...I guess?) collection.

Recently, I almost bought the Anchor Bay “ultimate edition” DVD set at my local Bull Moose for like $26, and at the moment I’m glad I didn’t. We’ll see what Second Sight has up its sleeve.

I wish they’d just drop a proper announcement for the thing rather than basically teasing the announcement, though. It reminds me of the growing trend of studios releasing a movie trailer for a trailer.

Thinking i might sell my anchor bay blu on ebay and get as much cash as I can for it... If this ends up being disappointing, well I still got my anchor bay ultimate edition.

Sadly, it's only 7 minutes long.
I first saw Dawn on BBC2 in 2000 and although it was the Cannes version, it had been heavily censored in line with the original BBFC cinema cuts.

I had picked up the Japanese Extended Blu for reasonably cheap and I don't think I've ever re-sold a Blu so fast in my life. I thought it looked terrible in-motion.

Never picked up the film due to all the previously poor releases (and the better ones having trade-offs). Hopefully this will be the one...

Going to sell my Arrow Blu Ray too - I've overdosed on this film since I was a kid, reckon I'll be happy with the Ultimate Edition until something better comes along.

I would sell my Midnight Factory set, but that'd just be cruel, wouldn't wish that on a dead dog
