I'm over even caring if Criterion or whomever else gets US release rights considering the package Second Sight is putting together. It's pretty end-all-be-all tbh.

I'm all over the Second Sight release but was just wondering what if Criterion is close to a deal too.
It was a joke post. I haven稚 heard anything definitive about Criterion, just people saying they want Criterion to release it.

Cool.

(The best head explosion ever is still Scanners, and that was 40-odd years ago and Horns has a great one too (uncut version))

Work is well underway, but as they said on social media they'll only announce the particulars on it when they're ready to do so.

Update:

Quote:
Following the 4K scan of the camera negative, grading and framing approved by DP Michael Gornick, we now have about 4 weeks left of manual frame by frame restoration at Final Frame followed by the HDR grade for the UHD. We are releasing the 3 cuts on 3 separate discs (both Blu-Ray and UHD) plus bonus disc so the authoring stage will then take several weeks for the best possible encodes by David Mackenzie. We are currently hoping for a release date in February and will update again in the next month. Aside from the 3 versions of the film itself, plus archive and new bonus material, we are also working on other exciting additional content for the box set. We have been very fortunate to have Michael Gornick involved and it was great to hear his comment on work to date: ‘I place upon this extraordinary effort a nihil obstat in certification of its quality’. More soon

I’ll double dip if it has HDR. I wonder when we can expect it.

The FB post literally says they're giving it an HDR grade.

SCANNERS was 1981, 38 years ago. Sorry to be nit picky but I was born in 1979 and if this movie came out 40-odd years ago, then I知 in my mid 40s already. Which I知 not!

You're gonna have to, the post implies that we're still six months out at least. But they have top men and women working on it, like Lauren in the above FB post, and it's going to be very special indeed.
