Great performances and great laughs in a rom com that works despite having pieces that don't obviously fit together. Charlize Theron gives an amazing performance in every role she gets, Seth Rogen is a toned-down version of himself which is a good thing in this movie. O'Shea Jackson Jr, Bob Odenkirk, Randall Park (another actor who puts everything into every role) are all great. There were several laugh out loud moments, the characters had great chemistry, especially OSJJ + Rogen and surprisingly Theron + Rogen, and stickman did indeed have a great character arc. The film wrapped up too neatly, but it was satisfying all the same. I never knew there was such a thing as political fanservice but this film delivered it.

It played everything a little too safe to be regarded as highly as fellow Theron dramedies Tully and Young Adult, but I rated this movie four OH BOYs.

ETA: There was another thread bemoaning the lack of good comedies. I would count this as one, and the closest in recent memory to a pure comedy. Also shout out to including Por Una Cabeza also known as the tango from True Lies.

Charlize Theron is one of the most perfect human beings in history. No controversy. Loves animals. Helps people in need. Amazing actor. Hilarious.
