Was on a flight so couldn't watch the telecast this year. If it went as well as I've been told, then stick with no-host.

Curious, what would you want a host to say?

Best Supporting Actor predix by Nathaniel Rogers.

Bruce Willis is listed as a possibility for Edward Norton's Motherless Brooklyn. Not gonna lie: Willis is a veteran who has delivered some damn good performances from time to time (in the unfortunately increasingly rare instances when he's actually invested in the role or starring in a worthwhile movie), and a "career" nomination would be delightful.

Academy Prepping Service to Stream Best Picture Oscar Hopefuls for Voters

Quote:
The organization is working on expanding the streaming platform that it has offered its members in recent years — which made available animated, documentary and short films — to include any best picture Oscar contender that a studio wishes to promote at a cost of $10,000 to $15,000 per title.

If it was about awarding the best movies then I would agree, but it’s never actually about that, studios organise there big awards contenders and begin campaigns early, especially with the Cannes line up announced this week, we will begin to see films getting strategically placed for optimal buzz.

Why not?

We don't? There are plenty of films that we know will be released this year, so it's perfectly possible to make preliminary predictions this far out, or at least simply discuss movies we think might become contenders. A few posts above I linked to a site that did it.

Besides, I think you haven't noticed, but we're on the fifth page of the thread. A lot has already been discussed.

IndieWire: 2020 Oscar Predictions

Quote:
The official start of the 2019-20 awards season is still months away, but with the Cannes lineup announced and dates set for the fall’s big contenders, it’s not too early to start thinking about the movies and performances that will register with awards voters later this year.

Netflix Wins As Academy Leaves Oscar Eligibility Rule Unchanged

Quote:
“We support the theatrical experience as integral to the art of motion pictures, and this weighed heavily in our discussions,” said Academy President John Bailey in a statement put out by AMPAS late Tuesday after the organization’s annual Rules meeting had wrapped up.

“Our rules currently require theatrical exhibition, and also allow for a broad selection of films to be submitted for Oscars consideration,” the halfway through his term Bailey added. “We plan to further study the profound changes occurring in our industry and continue discussions with our members about these issues.”

Also makeup is being expanded to 5 nominees (so now every category is at least 5) and Foreign Language is being renamed International Feature Film

Would Star Wars, James Bond, Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings now be eligible?

"International" will have to be defined in some way that excludes the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Yeah, that's kinda the fun around the discussion. The twists and turns, the fall of major contenders and the rise of the underdog films.

You can take your leave any time, mister, if you are not up to it. No need to post "bored" smileys.

Things will change till the end of the year. What you have failed to explain is how that precludes discussion, predictions, sharing info etc.
