Blows my mind how a movie like this can be priced at 30 dollars. Embarrassing stuff.

You do realize that the price usually drops and sometimes significantly, right?

The studio always wants to recoup as much as possible first.

Blows my mind that people complain about the cost of a modern non-mainstream format when LaserDiscs were $35 a pop in 1995 dollars (nearly $60 today) with several times LESS resolution plus murky color and no multichannel lossless audio.

It's not the format It's the movie. It's a cheesy zombie popcorn flick. In no way shape or form does it cost $30 freaking dollars. Not saying I hate the movie but I think 15-20 bucks sounds more reasonable. You will be lucky if this drops to 22.99 in a few months. Which is way too much to pay for a movie like this. It's not THE JOKER type release level even. Even that movie needs a price drop

When I went to see it in the theater it was priced the same as all the other films playing at the time.

I enjoyed the film very much. How you personally feel about the content is irrelevant to pricing.

Lol. The price discussions here are so beat to death already. I don’t understand how the price seems unreasonable to some. 4K releases of new films always fall in the $25 - $30 range (or higher). The few times I’ve seen new 4K releases go lower than that is for catalogue titles. The same thing happened with standard blu-ray when it was the newer format. Also, the style and genre of the movie doesn’t really matter when it comes to pricing, both for home media and movie theater. New releases are priced the same always. It baffles me that people still want to make this a discussion when there is nothing new to discuss about it. Hollywood is a business, and just because the movie is a cheesy horror comedy does not mean it costed a few hundreds dollars to make.

The other thing is quality. Sony has always delivered great to perfect video and audio on 4K discs so $30 is completely justified given the business context.

No one’s forcing anyone to buy this on release date. If the price really bothers people that much there’s nothing preventing them from buying it later. Discussing it here isn’t going to make companies change their pricing strategies.

I can see what you’re saying but anyone who buys a movie like this for 30 bucks plus tax is really either rich or just a die hard collector that has to have every release to add to their 400 plus collection club or whatever.

Waiting until it hits like 15-20 bucks would be a smarter decision
For a smart consumer . And yes the quality of the movie matters. This isn’t even close to a movie worthy of 30 bucks even it was in 8k lol.

Quality is so subjective though. I didn’t think this was some perfect piece of cinema but I enjoyed the heck out of it, so I don’t mind paying 30 bucks to enjoy it on release date. Some others might feel the same way so generalizing and saying they’re either rich or die-hard collectors is unfair.

Saying the movie isn’t worth 30 bucks is simply your opinion, just like saying it’s not a high quality movie.

I'm glad to have bought the SteelBook at $35. I want to support this franchise in hopes that they'll make a 3rd one.

What is the reason for not including more subtitle languages on UHD releases? I miss Swedish subtitles on this release and it seems like we will get this on Blu-ray only in my area. Does subtitles take up more space on the disc than what I think? Why not make one disc for worldwide use with every possible subtitle language included?

@hm83 I'm assuming they're reserving Swedish subs primarily for European releases rather than putting it on a North American/Southeast Asian releases. Having crap ton of foreign dub tracks and subtitles can sometimes take up a little bit too much space to have in one disc release.

I meant in a more general sense I guess. Since it looks like the UHD won’t be released in Sweden I’m not sure the other european releases will have swedish subtitles either, but I find it strange if they don’t.
