Also, this DVD here claims to have an original mono. https://www.blu-ray.com/dvd/The-Brid...wai-DVD/80478/ |

Yeah, it's good to have something. But you wish they could have done more with it.

Not to mention it wasn't until roughly 2004-ish when digital IPs were commonplace and films started getting limited to 2K. Soundtracks were still released in multiple formats (DD, DD-EX, DTS, SDDS, analog, etc). |

Not to my knowledge. There's a handful of members here that would know for certain and would be much better than any other website IMHO.

Not to keep complaining goofy, but just dumping the specs from IMDB next to each film doesn't tell anyone about the respective encoding of the original audio tracks on these UHDs, it's very confusing now as you're referring to theatrical formats by their original names but the modern tracks by their modern names and just mixing them together.
This makes it sound like the OG audio for something like Stand by Me e.g. "Dolby Atmos | Dolby Digital | Mono" is in Dolby Digital at best with no mention of how the mono is encoded at all, when it's actually lossless DTS-HD MA 2.0. And the "Dolby Digital", which I presume is a reference to the 5.1 remix, is encoded as lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1. |

Agree. IMHO, the best way to go with it would be to mention cinema sound (say, 35 mm 4-channel stereo) and it’s equivalent on UHD (DTS HD-MA 4.0). Or something like that, so that not so technically savvy persons as myself would know for sure, what track I should choose if I want to watch the movie with its OG audio

Great! But are you sure that all of the sound mixes mentioned in IMDb were presented theatrically? Or some of them mentioned because they were specifically made for Blu Ray/UHD releases?
For example, 2001: A Space Odyssey - 4-Track Stereo (35 mm magnetic prints) | 70 mm 6-Track (70 mm prints) | DTS (DTS HD MA 5.1) DTS-HD MA 5.1 - was it even shown in cinemas in this format? |

It's better-ish but still confusing, it'd be tidier if just referencing one particular OG audio mix and then its respective encoding onto the disc, there are two or three OG ones listed for almost each example and so it's not clear what the UHD mix is supposed to be representing. I do realise that in some cases we don't know for sure exactly what the UHD OG mix was derived from, but where we do know or can take a very good guess then I'd delete the other references as they're superflous. This is a thread about original audio on UHD discs, not what sound formats x film had theatrically in general.
e.g. for 2001 I'd just put 2001: A Space Odyssey - 70 mm 6-Track (70 mm prints) | DTS-HD MA 5.1 and in the case of something like Deer Hunter then the extra enumeration would be welcome because the StudioCanal UHD has BOTH mixes, e.g. Deer Hunter, The - 70 mm 6-Track (70 mm prints) DTS-HD MA 5.1 | Dolby Stereo (35 mm prints) DTS-HD MA 2.0 and for Stand by Me (yes, it's encoded as 2.0 not 1.0) I'd just put Stand by Me - Mono DTS-HD MA 2.0 |

What Geoff said^. Some more corrections/additions that I would suggest:
Alien - 70 mm 6-Track (70 mm prints) DTS HD-MA 5.1 | Dolby Stereo DTS-HD MA 2.0 Karate Kid, The - Isnt it mono? DTS-HD MA 2.0 Predator - 70 mm 6-Track (70 mm prints) DTS-HD MA 5.1 (?)| Dolby Stereo (35 mm prints) (4 channels) DTS-HD MA 4.0 Saving Private Ryan - Dolby Digital Dolby Digital 5.1 |

Nope. The THX laserdisc has the 70mm mix and it’s drastically different than the 4.1 DTS-MA track. 70mm mix has different music cues. The line “Kane’s son” is missing. And many more changes. It’s also incredibly bombastic.
