So, haven't watched it yet (but I already know I'll love it... Bill & Ted have been part of my life since I'd watch the seemingly endless reruns on network TV!), but I have to say, there's something that really bugs me in the Comic-Con panel:
After being introduced, Brigette Lundy-Paine essentially goes "oh, and fyi, I use they/them pronouns", and then proceeds to have such a smug look on their face... Anyway, why wouldn't someone mention this to Kevin Smith beforehand (like Lundy-Paine themself(eves)?), and also, I can't tell if it's just Lundy-Paine's personality... But it really soured me to the entire panel, and reminded me how different the world is today (not necessarily for the worse or better, mind, just different). I don't know, it's likely that it hits close to home because I've been on Kevin Smith's side of things, and I've rarely been corrected in a nice way, or in a way that doesn't automatically create a sense of that aforementioned smugness. Sorry, I don't mean to "start" anything, but just pointing it out in case anyone else watches that panel and sees something different. <shrug> BE EXCELLENT TO ONE ANOTHER, DUDES. I got the Trilogy Collection set and its...weird.
Excellent Adventure is the original MGM blu-ray. Bogus Journey is, surprisingly enough, the Shout! Factory blu-ray found in the two-pack. and of course, Face the Music is likely the same disc as the standalone release. |

Commanding people to refer to you as something that is not in alignment with their initial perspective is, in itself, uncomfortable and has an air of control and superiority in the conversation. It can, at least. But when you are more comfortable with being called something else, it can hurt a lot when people don't respect those wishes. So maybe they were being assertive for that reason. |

Wound up watching this again last night with my mom, and I think I'll have to upgrade my opinion to "Really liked it". My only complaint is that the music - ironically enough - isn't as strong as the first two. Big Pig, KISS, Steve Vai - the first two had some really great cuts and the third one? Not so much. It just didn't click for me.
Still, minor point in an overall really solid movie. |
