I mean they should really keep is simple and realize what made the first Predator movie such a classic
1. Keep it low-budget, don't go for a mega CGI fare, keep it in the $40-50 million dollar range, a la modern Gerard Butler movies. 2. Keep it simple, no complex plot, very straightforward guys on a mission story. Top out at 100 minutes or so. 3. Make it Hard-R, gory, and scary. Have brutal shocking violence. 4. Slather on the testosterone. Get a steroid pumped cast of jacked alpha males with ginormous guns, both human and machine kinds. 5. Be in bad taste. This is a B movie, don't be pretentious about it. Revel in the machismo, in the slaughter, in the cheesy one-liners, don't try to be respectable. And there you have it. Should be simple enough right? Looking at the 5 conditions above, you know which modern movie meets that? Unsurprisingly, a Gerard Butler movie - 300. Maybe get him to be your lead star! |

I see Predator as a big budget version of Tremors franchise. A great initial concept with a great creature but after the first movie it has nowhere to go. If the predator creature design wasn't as iconic as it is this series would have been direct to video fodder long ago.
Bringing Arnie back would be a start but I think they need to reign it back in. Forget all the predator dogs and other crap that's been created just to try and make each film seem fresh. |

I couldn’t agree more. I feel like this series NEEDS Arnie back. I enjoy all the films after the first to some degree. But they’ve ALL felt like they’ve been missing something.

The Predator and Alien need to become scary again. And if you are listening studios the wonderful thing about that is that you do it with a much lower budget than you have given these films recently. |

As much as I did enjoy Predators, I don't think I want to watch a movie about anyone getting off the hunting preserve planet. I was not a huge fan of 2, and the last movie I can't even remember the plot. Somehow, tough guys with lots of weapons in the jungle did the trick. In think that was a large part of the appeal of Predators; tough guys with weapons in a jungle. I'd take a third dose of that.

The Predator was the defining proof (as if we needed one), that no one at Fox understand what made John McTiernans film such a great experience. Why it worked in the first place. At best, all they can do is to make inferior imitations of it, over and over again.

I think an interesting idea would be to have the film set in the future, on a distant planet inhabited by humans where the predator(s) land to hunt. They face off colonial marines so that it feels a bit like Aliens but with the Predator. Still keep it smaller budget, compared to other modern sci-fi films.
This would give them to open up to a reboot of the AvP films if they want, but wouldn't necessarily need to go that route. It would feel different enough from what we've seen before to keep it interesting. |

Disney owns Hulu now, so they are going to want all the Fox content there instead. Also Hulu is better than Netflix, in my opinion anyway.

Same with Aliens and not exploring weyland yutani or all the possibilities with that. Just more of the same recast below average dialogue and mission rinse repeat. |

It is going to be the movie every time. Just my preference. Watered down tell it all details TV make me want to cry. I most of the time pretend the off shoots don't exist (actually speaking of Tremors I bought the TV series and didn't get to it yet for 2 years, I like Michael Gross and his involvement seals it for me on watching it eventually, a true exception). |
