Watched this for the first time... It was... enjoyable. I just find the approach to the sequel quite odd. It's night and day different to the first. Also why couldn't Patrick Bergin be just Dr. Angelo and be English? They cast a different actor for Jobe, so why not?? Woulda made more sense. Another thing is, what exactly is up with the futuristic world considering Peter is just a teenager in this?

Lastly, the music score was epic and awesome and totally did not fit for this movie. It's TOO good for it.

It may be one of the best scores ever written for a genuinely bad movie.

Do Ronin Flix ever do sales or promos of any kind? I just don't know if I can handle paying 24.99 for this. Lol.

I also just noticed it says "Ronin Flix Exclusive until Sep 07, 2021." Does that mean it will be available at all retailers at that point?

I know they did a sale last year. I bought some movies during it. Been waiting for another.

It's up for pre-order on Amazon right now (So is Haunt for those wondering). Price is currently $39.99 but we'll see what it changes to after release. I still haven't gotten around to snagging this one and so if Amazon can match that $24.99 price I'll be happy to pick it up then as I'll have the free shipping from prime plus can drop a $5 gift card on it to bring it down to my target price of $19.99 or less.

Got mine in just now. It has the anachronistic "NEW LINE CINEMA - AN AOL/TIME WARNER COMPANY" logo at the beginning in 16:9 (as opposed to the windowboxed 4:3 "NEW LINE CINEMA - A TURNER COMPANY" one of the original), and they decided to use an extended and looped version of the outro music during the end credits for this one (the original release just played it once then had silence for the rest of the credits). It also just ends without any logos (the original Beyond Cyberspace version ended with a shot of the film's logo).

Should also mention that it has the version of the credits that abruptly cuts to the roll halfway up the screen.

Just rewatched this cheese fest last night and it's funny in retrospect how cyberspace computer technology was viewed and pictured in the mid 90's lmao

This sequel pairs and lines up perfectly with Hackers and Johnny Mnemonic

I watched the BD today and was baffled by this as well. After the final fade-out the credits suddenly pop up halfway up the screen as if the first few seconds were cut out and the transition of the looped music during the second half of the end credits also feels somewhat out of place.

I have the poorly-cropped pseudo-widescreen DVD from 2010 and the original Australian VHS release (both with the Beyond Cyberspace subtitle), and they both say "AN AUGUST ENTERTAINMENTS RELEASE" at the beginning of the credits before the cast list. On the original US DVD and this bluray, they removed the reference to August Entertainment by blanking out all the frames with those words, hence why the credits appear to abruptly pop up like that.

A lot of people seem to forget that the internet was mostly still a wild west around this time. The older search engines were often terribly unorganized and website layout was atrocious. Just go through a Geocities/Angelfire archive to see how bad the majority of sites looked. But especially around the mid 90s, the general public perception of the internet was basically that it was like an evil dark web. To be fair, computers were probably way more vulnerable and I distinctly remember the Chernobyl one from 99 that completely destroyed our computer at the time. One thing that's kind of forgotten as well is just how expensive computers tended to be at the time. I remember we got a package deal with a Pentium II PC and monitor with a printer and it was around $3500, which would be over $6000 in today's money. Insane. And of course the average computer handled the internet really poorly given internet speeds generally around 56k or slower until broadband started to roll out more in the 00s.

It could be really tough to find anything on what you were looking for. An example is I was a huge Happy Gilmore fan as a little kid and around 97 all I could find was one guy's fan page who had a trivia contest where you would e-mail the answers to obscure questions and the guy e-mailed me back and apparently I was the first one to get all the correct answers. It was just a weird state at the time. Another thing I remember doing was finding short wav files of movie quotes like from Cheech and Chong movies. There wasn't social media, YouTube or really anything resembling the modern era other than perhaps chat rooms, forums, and older things like USEnet. And throughout the entire 90s I remember computers/internet being something that was really "uncool" to mention when I was in school; it was basically stereotyping as a social outcast. It's so interesting to think about how internet/nerd culture and everything in between has shifted over the years.

Happy enough to have all these obscure titles on blu, but it's cool to see them get uhds as well. Most of my favorite movies were watched at home on vhs or cable/premium channel tv. We've been spoiled for a while on the home video front. It's nice to have options and be able to cherry pick which format.

From what i heard the director Farhad Mann disowned the film after the producers and Austin O'Brien locked him out of the editing room to make it less dark and more of a family film (O'Brien was insistent that the movie be PG-13 and hated the first film due to the violence and nudity).
