Kino is the kind of company where I would just order straight from their website even if it cost slightly more just to show my support.

Oh yes! Bring it on! Carrie was my top wishlist 4K, but I think it'd be more fitting if they released around prom season!

Looks like I'm making another combo pack with the Criterion disc.
I thought Kino was able to release the Leones on 4K because the license didn't specify formats?

I'll have to see if I can catch the repeats, I haven't seen the show since I was a kid.

I must be a couple of years older than you because I remember growing up with both of them

I don't disagree. This still makes me laugh:

At least the first legit, licensed DVD slipped through the cracks and came out in Australia last year. It's even NTSC, so there's no PAL speedup:

Be careful and only order from this link at Amazon, there are loads of bootlegs that Amazon carries, and they all use this same cover.

The DVD even has a reversible cover, so you can get rid of the hideous Australian ratings box.

Two Questions:

Does the Criterion edition have something the KL doesn't?

How does KL ship? I'm a big slipcover guy. First time buying. Love this film.

Yes. Nice. I guess that means Criterion is putting out Mulholland Drive.

I'm still amazed that that official Australian DVD exists. I can only assume Mann was fast asleep when it was given the go-ahead.

I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works. IIRC the 4K rights were specifically included with Kino’s MGM acquisitions, and not just the stuff that’s actually being released on UHD now, this is going back years as KLI has mentioned this before. But clearly MGM aren’t giving out the 4K rights if the licensee doesn’t have any capacity to use them, otherwise Criterion wouldn’t have been gazumped like with SOTL. Well, unless their license is up already.

....walks over to the shelf, removes Criterion release from shelf and adds to sell box.

This is becoming a reoccurring trend.

Seeing a lot of Criterion simps on social media already trying to say there's no way this can top the 1080 Criterion transfer... lol

They keep saying physical media is dying. If so, keep dying this way because this year has been outstanding up to now.
