They junked the hell out of this site. I'm struggling even to post because the ads float over everything. I will be supporting this site a lot less and when I do it will be on PC with an ad blocker. Shameful.

In Firefox, the setting (Settings, Security & Privacy, Permissions, Autoplay) does NOT work.

Ah, site preferences for the site itself, not via browser settings.

Weird that in Firefox telling it to turn autoplay off doesn't work - the developer must be using Javascript or something.

I can turn it off in Chrome, but not Firefox, display ad box is unchecked but the video appears but does not autoplay. The latest video is something like "Tom Cruise barred by Navy from flying jet". How is that not clickbait?

After a couple refreshes & a reboot the popup video is no longer popping up in Firefox.

New “advertising system” is a horror show. I understand sites need to cover costs but this is too much.

Had to turn the ads off today. It was fine at first but now I get ads on the top of the page, bottom, in between posts and the left hand side of the screen, and sometimes video ads. That's just way too much. It reminds me of going on gaming websites back in the day with their 500 ads.

I don't mind image ads at the top of the page but a popup Top Gun video ad is a bit much. I thought I had some malware or something. Thanks to the people who gave instructions on turning the ads off.

The video pop-up is very inelegant and intrusive. I immediately changed preferences.

I understand the need to generate revenue, but I'd (genuinely) rather pay a member fee than see the site impacted by that sort of solution.

I turned them off but it is astonishing that a website like this would purposely do this to themselves. It is truly mind boggling. It’s the equivalent of having a virus. Why would you do this to yourself?!

Banners and links are fine but constant pop ups are simply unforgivable. I’m shocked they would purposely include this kind of ad system regardless of being able to turn it off. It just defies all logic.

Use the forum setting as linked in the first post.

1. Go here: https://www.blu-ray.com/community/settings.php
2. Scroll to the bottom, then look at the third section from the bottom (Third party sites).
3. Uncheck the box Display advertising.
4. Click Update Settings at the bottom of the page.
