That level of modification extends to the challenge, too. Kim explains that you can "control the difficulty setting," but even if you keep Stellar Blade on its default mode, the game has "systematically supported features" that can get you across the finish line.
Ah excellent! I'd done a few Google searches on this matter but hadn't come across this, only some quotes that implied it would be challenging/possibly Soulsian. Definitely on my must play list now.

To be clear, I'm all for Souls games. I just wish they did have difficulty settings for people who wanted to experience the worlds and lore but don't have the time to commit to the challenge.

Agreed.

I thought this was gonna play more like Devil May Cry 5? Am I wrong?

Maybe. That'd be cool. I remember seeing some people saying some of the bosses looked like they had some soulslike gameplay elements and I guess I might have got hung up on those comments and the developers saying it would be challenging. It certainly looks more hyperkinetic than Souls action and the creators did say they took a lot of influence from Nier Automata.

I'm interested in learning more about this game, though I'm probably going to wait and see before plunking down an investment of $75 with tax on this potentially very difficult game, depending on the skill required, trial and error repeat to defeat gameplay. I don't mind repeating a few times to defeat a boss, but when I'm sitting there for an hour trying to defeat one boss, and making no true progress, then I feel I can spend my time doing more productive things.

I know some love that kind of a challenge. This does look neat though, so hopefully it's not super difficult.

Same
Too difficult = ruins the point of escapism

However this is supposed to have three difficult settings, right?

So we can just start out on easy

I don't like the anime look of this game. I know what I'm talking about. There's the generic hand-drawn anime look and the generic video game anime look. This game has the video game anime look, where people look like dolls. The model in that behind-the-scenes Twitter post looks more appealing to me (if a little skinny, but I'm talking about the face).

https://twitter.com/ShiftUpWorld/sta...68744423600593

It's not even that it's stylized. I mean, the women of Metal Gear Solid and Devil May Cry look fine to me, except for stupid clothing sometimes. Yakuza's seem fine, although I never played the games. But games like Stellar Blade, Dead or Alive and largely modern Final Fantasy polish up all the facial features too much and make everyone blander and more artificial. Their faces have no... character.

What's odd is in that link you posted of model Shin Jae Eun being body-scanned, she definitely appears like you said, "skinny".

She is definitely thinner in real life than the curvy character in-game.

Yet those body scans were three years ago.

Looking at her newer pics, I think she's enhanced herself via plastic surgery since then, because she's thicc'r and more "hour-glass" shaped in the bust and hips now:

or

https://www.instagram.com/accounts/l...nyrt_official/

Edit: don’t know if those links work.
Just look up Zennyrt or Shin Jae Eun and you’ll see she’s more voluptuous now

.

It's South Korea. Seems like almost all the women with money there get plastic surgery with the aim of all looking the same. I don't like it at all.

Somebody messed up and pushed it live early it seems like, it was up for less than 30 minutes before being pulled down.

I downloaded it before it was pulled. Playing it now.

Edit:
Finished the demo and would say it’s definitely promising. The combat starts off relatively limited and can feel a bit sluggish, but looking at the skill trees there are expanded abilities and refinements to the skills you start with that seem like they will flesh out the combat.

Balanced mode is the way to play I’d say unless you are purely a resolution junkie. Performance mode is noticeably hazy by comparison with artifacts around Eve. Balanced seems to be at or near 60 the majority of the time outside of heavy combat maybe and is a more stable image. I’ll be curious to see some more techy people do analysis on it though because balanced isn’t a 120Hz mode and find out the nitty gritty difference between the modes. Does not seem to have any VRR implementation either.

I won’t be buying at launch with my current backlog but I will definitely be picking it up later in the year as long as reviews say the rest of the game holds up.

Thanks. I must have just missed it as it's not there, having checked. Hopefully they post it up next week or something. That's awesome you got to test it out early. Nice going.

How much time does the demo last? What is the area location like if you had to describe it?

Stellar Blade Gameplay Walkthrough Part 1 | PS5 - YouTube
I think it took me about 30-45 minutes, but there were more things in it that could have been done.

After the intro section shown in that video it jumps ahead a little to a ruined city location. You go through destroyed streets, through buildings and it ends with you climbing a parking garage to a boss fight. You can go off on a couple different streets that aren’t the main path so not strictly single corridor based.

There are small swimming sections, climbing and parkour type elements too. The traversal was pretty good, maybe a little bit stiff on the swinging but the climbing was great after playing so many hours of the clunk FF7 Rebirth climbing.

Afterwards it shows you a sizzle reel of other stuff from later in the game and lets you fight a different boss fight with further progression unlocked to have idea of later in the game development.

Cool, thanks Diesel. Sounds good and more than what I saw in the video I found showing the introduction battle. Good to hear you were able to branch off a little bit down different streets.
Climbing, swimming, I wasn't expecting that in this game, nice.

Thanks for the details.

There is a Normal and Story difficulty option, at least in the demo. I played on normal and did die a couple times learning the combat but by the time I got to the boss fight I took him down in two tries.

So modern, in that you can't see shit. They have the camera locked like in a third-person shooter, again.

Music is too much like Nier: Automata's. Not complaining about Automata's, but the imitation here feels soulless.

I can't. These costumes are too silly. I chose "costumes" instead of "outfits" or "clothes" because only a stage performer would wear such complicated articles.

Her head is too small.

Lmao. I just read this comment now. It's no different really to all the damn Kardashian wannabe clones we have on Instagram from the West tbh. The problem is that there's these hugely irritating trends that occur whether in the East or West and basically they're like the flavour of the month, only irreversible in some cases when surgically done

One thing i can say is that if a developer is from X, Y, Z place, you usually will see a certain culture of their country infused into the game unless they specifically have gone out their way to focus on a specific culture a la Ghost of Tsushima.

Stellar Blade is apparently getting some positive feedback for the most time. Seems like a dev the size of this game actually has done well.

Watching gameplay, it definitely seems to play like a Souls-Like. Except it has difficulty settings. I’m still interested and will definitely give it a shot, at some point.

Can't see anything? The camera is locked? Were you able to test out the demo?

I haven't tried it yet.

This looks like a stylized video game, almost like an anime but with more realistic textures. Her face seems normal sized compared to the smaller faces of some games. From Software sometimes makes characters with small skulls in their games, kind of like Bloodborne.
