Now, if I could find the official soundtrack CD for a decent price I would be set. Mainly want it for the Danny Elfman & EG Daily tunes.
I used to scour punchout bins for years looking for it while wondering how in the world I never bought it as soon as it came out. I did eventually get it off of Ebay.

Danny Elfman recently released a new album and had a song called "Happy" on it. I thought he was revisiting his Summer School song. Uh.... nope.

The 7" and 12" Mind Over Matter singles are also worth checking out because they contain a remix and instrumental version of the song that aren't available elsewhere:

It's a shame the original Debbie Harry recording never saw the light of day officially, it's pretty fantastic.

LOVE that whole soundtrack. Owned it on LP and of course it's so hard to find on CD. Just about every track is a winner. I'll be getting the Blu-Ray first day for sure.

I like Daily's better, but I think her vocal style is more appealing to me. That somewhat throaty/raspy style.

I've never even laid eyes on a Summer School CD, I didn't even know one existed. I have a vinyl rip someone made me once, still listen to that very rip. I think Summer School and Rad had absolutely incredible soundtracks.

It's a painful listen, to be honest. I barely made it through once.

Got it - so lots of silence, or no real technical conversation, not funny?

It just isn't good. Mark Harmon is a nice guy, I'm sure, but he's dull. Carl Reiner was a comedy legend, but he doesn't have a whole lot of interesting stories to tell. This track definitely needed a moderator.

I was so excited to hear them talk about this movie when I bought the special edition DVD years ago; I've loved the movie since I went to see it in 1987.

Curious in the pq. Asssuming it'll probably be from the old master used for streaming and maybe even tv.

Random question: what was the source of the 5.1 mix? Was it done from the original stems?

Even though the film came out in the mid-80's, it was originally mono.

I was going to say, for anyone that doesn't know, that commentary track was recorded 15 years ago, in 2007 for the 20th anniversary Life's a Beach edition DVD. Shout Factory is usually good at adding new features to their releases so I'm surprised that the only new feature here is an interview with Richard Steven Horvitz. Everything else is from the 2007 DVD release. Kind of disappointing.

My favorite scene in the movie is when Dave and Chainsaw run out of time on their test and start going "C! C! C! C!" actually finished my tests up like this many times, no idea how accurate it is but darn if it isn't fun.

I am too. I just thought they might get more of the cast to participate.

Had this delivered earlier today but have not had a chance to pop it in yet. Will try to give it just a quick peek later to see what PQ is like. Just happy it is on Blu-ray so won't be too critical.

EDIT: Looks quite nice to me and better than I was anticipating but I have no frame of reference to compare it to since it is one of those movies I have always seen on TV and don't think I ever owned on any format until now. Didn't go all in movie collecting until Blu-ray.
