Definitely no Sony light Canon.
Max light level 464 with a max frame average of 156. Don't really need DV to help map this one. Just spot checking and it's definitely nice looking and naturally sharp. The BD does come across a bit soft in comparison. Colors seem a touch subdued here as well. Last edited by tama; 05-28-2022 at 03:13 PM. |

My copy came in a case with enough trays for four discs.
![]() I guess I could've used the last tray for the DVD, but instead I switched cases with a set that tried to stuff four discs into two trays. |

yeah, mine also came in a 4 disc case... and also the artwork doesn't properly fit in the case. It's all shriveled.

Same here. It fits perfectly without wrinkles in Columbia Pictures/Sony cases for Angry Birds 4K and Da Vinci Code 4K. Will do a slight trim on the right edge to fit.

I just got my copy. (Delivered on Memorial Day? Not complaining, but surprised.) Arrived from Bull Moose. 4 disc case, graphic printing on all three discs, Blu-Ray/DVD art on the artwork insert, theatrical poster design on the slip.
Even before putting in a disc, this feels like a good release. Well done to Sony. I wasn't expecting them to do more than put the director's and extended cuts on 4K and reissue it with the 2015 Blu-Ray, but the packaging, disc art and the extra bonus disc with the other two cuts of the film really pushed this over the top! Oh, and the laserdisc cut has the commentary from the laserdisc as well as an optional feature. |

I am very disappointed that the LaserDisc cut only has Dolby Digital 2.0 audio.
I'm pretty sure the disc has enough space for them to upgrade it to DTS-HD MA 2.0. And it doesn't have the isolated M+E track from the LaserDisc. The theatrical cut's audio is in DTS-HD MA 2.0 dual mono, so maybe they could make that a 1.0 track to make way for the M+E track and the DTS-HD MA 2.0 track for the LaserDisc cut. |

![]() Alas, to my chagrin Sony has weirdly chosen to utilize cases of the thick 15mm variety for this release, with both the outer slipcover and inner artwork being sized to fit as such. Not sure why this decision was made vs. simply using actual 3-disc cases, but ultimately it's a non-issue beyond my personal OCD factor. |

That being said, what is the 10 minutes of extra footage in the LD cut? I'm watching the Extended Cut now, I didn't realize there was another 10 minutes missing. P.S. I've owned this on VHS, DVD, Blu-ray and now 4K. It's been an interesting ride with the picture quality went from full screen VHS quality to 4K quality. I'm so looking forward to watching the theatrical cut, I haven't seen that in over 20 years. I watched that VHS all the time, I can still tell where the edits are when the scene were added back in. From what I've read the extended cut is rather close to the laserdisc cut outside of those minor trims and (apparently) some musical variations. It's certainly my preferred version at any rate. I actually have a friend who adamantly refuses to watch anything outside of his laserdisc copy. A few years ago he got visibly angry when I suggested that he open his mind and check out the gorgeous blu-ray edition. "Too many changed notes." he kept saying and we left it at that. And isn’t it correct that the Overture, Intermission & Exit cues were created specifically for the LD version, and were never attached to the film even in its original more (most) complete version? Still wish they’d been integrated with the extended version, but I guess that’s one nit too many to pick. Anxious to watch this again; showed one of the 4 nephews (the triplet most attuned to classic cinema, though his elder brother is quickly catching up - all in 20s now) the BD a couple of years ago in early July. What a wonderful treat is this release! I picked it up today even before they’d put it out on the shelf.
