But this here isn't a 'joint venture' as such. It's just Warners releasing a set of movies that MGM owns because they're obliged to do so, being MGM's current home video distributor aside from specific deals, like when MGM need theatrical distribution for something and also have to parcel in home video rights e.g. No Time to Die at Universal.

That said, one of the first things that Warners did as part of the MGM distribution deal was to release a Poltergeist trilogy set on Blu-ray in the UK: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Polte...lu-ray/276125/

WHV is just the current distributor of the MGM catalog. If there’s something like the F13 box set that suggests that this arrangement opens the floodgates of mixing titles between the two studios then I don’t know about it, but it’s certainly not this release because these are all titles from a single studio.

And even if it is now possible to release collections of Warner and MGM titles together as part of this current deal there’s another obstacle, the same obstacle preventing Universal from releasing the Jaws sequels alongside the original film.

In all seriousness I wouldn’t be surprised at 76 year old Stallone still having his VHS player.

Yeah the "floodgates" are not about to open. I think it's entirely likely the Poltergeist sequels will end up on UHD but through an indie like KL, Arrow, Shout or whomever. This series -- especially at this point -- doesn't have the popularity, obviously, of Bond or Rocky, so I doubt MGM will be "going retail" for a UHD franchise box-set in 2022.

Also, I realize Bond is in an Anniversary year but still think we're going to have to wait until a tie-in with/close to the next Bond film before they do a UHD. Hopefully it won't take that long but the new CREED is coming which is why Rocky is happening now.

It's either going to be for the holidays (November) or for the Creed 3 release early next year.

I don't know how quickly a disc can be authored, since we were told that Rocky Balboa was just transferred to 4k.

I posted it in one of the numerous bond threads but I suspect once the Theatrical reruns have finished of the 25, expect and announcement early September for a November release celebrating the 60th Anniversary.

This is already on the extras on the DVD / Blu-ray, or does he mean he's changing the ending for a new cut of Balboa? Surely not...

Wow, really?? That's exciting. Though, now the final fight will look really crappy in comparison to the rest of the movie, seeing as it was shot digitally at 1080p, if I remember correctly.

Maybe this will get me to finally watch these movies lol.

I've seen both Creeds, Chuck, The Brawler, and clips from Rocky 4. But that's it.

My brother was obsessed with them growing up.

I tried really hard to watch the original Rocky a few times, but I kept falling asleep around 40 minutes in.

I hope this set is under 100 bucks.
If they do release all the bonds on 4K I’ll wait for individual releases and most likely with this. I’m tired of having to send back a whole set just cause one disc is damaged.

I want to do a Rocky/Raging Bull double feature at some point. Raging Bull is like the other side of the coin of Rocky.

Honestly, after GF3:Coda, Rocky v Drago, and to some extent: Donner Cut.

I don't have much confidence in these re-cuts decades after the fact----they never seem to get it right.

It would cost them $20 and a sandwich to have a superfan/critic point out the new flaws some of them needlessly create prior to releasing it.

Having said that: Rocky V can only benefit from a re-edit (and certainly some different music choices)

So Sly is currently in talks with Warner Bros. and MGM about getting all six Rocky movies out on 4K UHD, isn't he?

There's no "talks." It's happening. Read the OP.
