I picked up the UHD earlier this week but have not yet sold off my old Kino BD. Might just swap the BD copies and then hock the other one.

What has the last comments to do with the 4k release of "Death Wish"?

I´m looking forward getting the disc. I bet it will be one of the best selling 4k discs for Kino Lorber. That´s for sure.

4 weeks to go.....

According to this site, most of the extras are solely on the new BD

Yeah, but the only new extra they added was a commentary, which is also on the UHD. The remaining extras on the BD were from the previous release. REALLY annoying about the mono being a downmix though, especially when the original mix was on their previous BD. Like that's so maddening.

He never would have done that. He rarely did any talk show interviews except for Dick Cavett. He never ever showed up on Johnny Carson´s "Tonight Show".

Carson tried to talk him into it but Charlie always said "no" because he felt uncomfortable doing talk show interviews.

are you talking about Death Wish?

I don't think it was confirmed anywhere if the 2.0 track is a downmix or not

This is the only review I could find so far but it's unfortunately light on details. Would be nice to see more reviews or caps before release day though that seems to be a rarity these days.

Pelham is MGM where DW is Paramount. It's whatever's supplied to them. Chances here are better since it's Paramount.

Well if this is true, then it's highly disappointing.
I love this movie, and was hoping for a fresh 4K scan from the negatives...

Are the original negatives lost? Or didn't Paramount allow them to use them for a new 4K scan? Or maybe they are saving it for themselves, for a new UHD release, on the 50th anniversary, next year.

Some early reports and reviews of Escape from Alcatraz said is was a DNR'd mess. I thought it was a decent transfer, so I'm not losing all my hope on Death Wish. Either way, the quality of Paramount UHD's is like a coin toss, at best.

Agreed. I thought Alcatraz looked more than decent...so I'm hopeful this classic film will look good too. Paramount is probably the strangest studio I've seen when it comes to 4K releases. Some releases look incredible, while others are look like complete doo doo.

Far too erratic.
Sometimes good - sometimes bad.
Looks like my strategy of not pre-ordering anything connected to Paramount is paying off.
Yes, Paramount is strange, but that's sugar coating it.
