Like... the appeal of Drebin in particular is that he's serious, but clueless. He's not a badass. If he does kill or apprehend someone, it's totally by accident. Liam Neeson is all wrong for this... I mean... everyone is. There's only one Leslie Nielsen.

I've never seen the originals outside of some clips, but this looks like dumb fun.
It looks like they're trying to invoke the spirit of a typical Liam Neeson action thriller as a parody. Maybe doing it as a Naked Gun reboot isn't the right choice, but I guess they couldn't resist the joke of his name being similar to Leslie Nielsen.

The very first scene of the first movie is Drebin being a badass. It's hard to judge if the tone is right from a minute long trailer with like three jokes in it but it's not far off the mark.

Not my type of humor. I mean... to clarify, It is not the genre itself per se. The parody and slap stick humor can be funny. I'm a big fan of The Three Stooges and Mel Brooks stuff. The problem is, the younger generations don't know how to be subtle. The spoof genre can be funny when you play it straight forward like back in the day. Nowdays, you have to have something randomly goofy and juvenile every few seconds with these kinds of movies.

This movie could go either way but the trailer at least got me chuckling. Neeson can be very funny, see his scene in Life's Too Short for proof.

The OJ joke got me, and Paul Hauser being George Kennedy's kid works for me.

I think I'm far more accepting of this knowing he's Drebin Jr and not the one and only Frank Drebin. Guess the mother isn't Prescilla Presley LOL

In any case, the only thing I really wouldn't want is for the movie to be a Taken spoof.
Yes, Frank Drebin could occasionally be a "badass", but, he was more accidentally so than through any real intent, on his part.

Probably godawful, Neeson's kinda already a joke anyway. The original Zucker/Abrahams had so many brilliant visual gags, some so simple and yet so inspired. And here's Drebin Killing thugs with a lollipop. I'm sorry for the negativity, but trailer did nothing for me.
