I feel the Warner Bluray is decent in terms of quality and like I said, I`m just not willing to do all these rebuys if I don`t feel it has extra value to me.
To each collector their own
The one and only incentive to upgrade something to 4k is the picture and audio quality. Everything else is a bonus. I understand its to each their own thing but its not a cash grab. A cash grab is when the same 4k is released later with some extra goodies like in many cases we see a standard edition but after a month or two we see the steelbook. Both standard edition and steelbook should be announced together for fans to choose from. However I can never refuse something only because of the packaging. I love to collect fancy packagings but the first and important reason to double dip to 4k is the picture quality and the audio quality.

Slipcover is the penultimate special feature. Let the movie be a 4K upscale from a 240i VHS source with lossy Dolby Digital 192kbs mono. Just so long as it has a slipcover. Bonus points if it is retro 1980-1990 style art.
Yes over the years this is what I see. If you check Rocky collection thread, no one is talking about why Rocky 5 and Balboa is not included in the set and all they talk is why not the original art which they grew up watching on VHS. Then we have people who keep Jcards or keep steelbooks in some protective plastic bags and some of the youtubers wear white gloves when unboxing a steelbook. One reviewer removed his gloves once he thought he was done with unboxing but then he remembered something and had to re open the disc so he wore his gloves back. Its either I am careless or if its people who are extra conscious.

@All

If any one you get their copy can you please comment on the Pic quality. Its a blind buy for me but its Guy Ritchie so I am very excited.

I agree that this is not a cash grab. I was angry they did not release the 4k with the vanilla Blu. As I was internally arguing over whether to buy the Blu, I saw the 4k announcement and held off until now. However, I also hate when they bring the steel well after the standard release. I have double-dipped on quite a few when the artwork is nice, though I've gotten better on just holding off until I know for sure they do not have a steel... I'm hoping Shout doesn't do one here so I can get this one, though if they do, they'd better announce quickly. ;-)

This hobby—just like collecting stamps, cards, coins, vinyl, or art—has layers to it, and everyone gets after something different. I don't use white gloves for my steelbooks, but I do have clear slips to keep them from scratching each other on the shelf. (Not bags or boxes: I like to be able to get at the movie to watch it, lol) I don't keep J-cards, but have many O-slips. If a release doesn't have a slip, I don't care too much, but other aspects of fancy packaging can get my attention... but I do not sell out to it. (Example: I hated the Reservoir Dogs steelbook art and bought the standard 4k)

I'm happy when anyone is passionate about what they like on physical media. Even when complaining, that just shows there are more who care about buying discs... and that is good for this hobby.

Yes I really hate it when they announce something later. I bought Wolf of wallstreet steelbook and then Arrow released this gorgeous little set which looks like a wallet so I ll get it and house my steel in it but its not in my priority list. Also there are third party releases which are very tempting to me always since they are numbered and with fullslips and cards etc. Novamedia is releasing two versions but both are standard blu rays only.

They could have thrown in the 4k as well but I think they ll do it later to grab more cash from me. It really sucks.

You can forget housing your steelbook in the Arrow wallet, I got mine last week and tried to put my steelbook in the wallet slot and it wouldn't fit cause the steelbook is too big.

Slips are just like condoms for all the elements of the world. This 4k case will ride it hard.

I wonder how this compares to the French release. I was looking through the BD info for Shout and French. Both are 100 GB with similar bitrates. I wonder how identical would they be.

I can't say "identical", but very similar. If not the same master, certainly the same source.

Color palette of the film is somewhat muted so I'm not really missing a Dolby Vision grade. Overall dynamic range is very good. Lots of dark scenes and this HDR10 encode from Shout! holds up well. Really nice looking disc. I popped the disc in my Panasonic player for a quick look and was immediately absorbed into the film (my personal benchmark for judging the quality of a transfer. If the "video" disappears, then all there is is the film.)

I really enjoy this film and this disc does it justice.

Except for the goddamn slip...

As far as I remember, saw once by a friend's, the French UHD has a pretty milky color grading (and of course no atmos).
I mean, without being an expert, noticeable. Therefore I keep in mind a flat image for the FR release, maybe TBC by others here

Seriously enjoyable movie this, glad to see it got the warranted treatment with the 4K release.
