Something interesting with Game of Death II is that the South Korean cut of the film was actually released in true HD. Don't know if that means anything for the more common cuts of the film though.

I heard the set is going to be titled Bruce Lee: 1971 to 1981 so I'd guess it will include Game Of Death 2 / Tower Of Death.

The Korean version noticeably isn't a "Bruce Lee" movie.

I would buy a Tower of Death BD or UHD if it had a subtitled version of the Korean cut. It's much better than the HK or International Cuts. Only thing I'd say is that someone might need to remove the odd real Bruce Lee shot that slipped in. Sounds like a job for Old Pang Yau.

My suggestions for improvements on a potential BL set (and yes, I am a nerd)

THE BIG BOSS

Pink Floyd music restored to Cantonese track (if possible)
Sound levels corrected on US dub (the sound effects track is too quiet in some of the early fights on the transfer Fortune Star has)
If that elusive uncut print turns up, please retain original theatrical subs and provide optional new ones in relevant scenes.
Option for English dub with Japanese music variations.


FIST OF FURY

Source a better Mandarin mono track if possible. The graveyard scene currently suffers from excessive noise reduction, out-of-phase echo on the dialogue, and sync issues. Most of the rest of the film sounds OK though.
Original Chinese end titles if possible


THE WAY OF THE DRAGON

Source a better Mandarin mono track if possible.The current one is very compressed sounding. Also, as on the Criterion set, this is a weird error with Chuck Norris' line. It should be "Bob's my student", not "My student Bob". No idea how that happened!
Source a better English mono track. The present one seems to have been cobbled from different sources, and the volume is all over the place.
Original Chinese end titles if possible


GAME OF DEATH

Restore the "Golden Harvest Presents" and opening fanfare music to the start of the main feature.
For the "HK" (more likely Malaysian) version as seen on the Shout disc, restore the Ji Han Jae fight back to the finale - Cantonese audio is on the Japanese version. If the scenes exclusive to the HK version as seen on tape turn up on film (the Ji fight in the middle, the happy ending) so much the better!
Provide new subtitle for scene where characters speaking in Cantonese have erroneous English subtitle (I'm sure some geek will know what I'm talking about!)

TOWER OF DEATH

New HD transfers of both HK and English versions. Please note the English audio on the Criterion release is badly mixed. A much better source is on the Fox box-set release from 2007.
Option to watch entire Korean version, even if only from VHS transfer.


Other suggestions

Option to watch the Japanese theatrical prints where possible - this applies to FIST, WAY and GOD at least
Restore all the Bey Logan commentaries, at least the ones where he is interviewing someone - John Benn, Roy Horan.
New commentaries from the usual suspects - David Desser, Tony Rayns, Brandon Bentley, Mike Leeder and Arne Vernaa etc
Optional soundtrack CDs of Peter Thomas' score for BIG BOSS, and the Japanese vinyl soundtrack albums.
Bruce Lee: The Man and the Legend with corrected audio if possible - HKL DVD has new foley, and transfer on Criterion release has issues.

Someone is supposed to be supplying Arrow with a couple of unique audio tracks for The Big Boss. One is Cantonese without the pasted Bruce Lee war cries. A clearer 1974 English dub track is also planned but it depends if the individual gets the tracks to them on time.

The dubs are the worst part of these movies. I've watched the English dubs and they are hilarious but I prefer original audio ands subtitles when at all possible. Unfortunately, even the original audio is full of weirdness with a lot of it not even being Bruce and yeah, the fake war cries.

Yep, that was me, lol. Sadly it wasn't the original Mandarin dub since it seems like no one can find the stems for that one, but rather the re-dub used for the Universe Laser DVD, since I was actually able to extract the dialogue/effects without music.

That release was the first time I'd heard it in anything other that English.
Later when I heard the other Cantonese track with Bruce's war cries, and the original Mandarin with original music, I couldn't believe the difference.
I'd like a nice blu or 4k to have those tracks on them from the Universe DVD for the nostalgia value.

Yeah, the first time I heard the original Cantonese track was nearly 25 years ago when someone made a VHS bootleg from the Universe Laser VCD for me. Funny enough, a couple of years later, I got the VCD myself and finally heard the original Mandarin mono. Of course, because nothing went easy with these films back then, it was cut for some reason, lol.

I don't have the VCD. Is there a clip on line of the OG Mandarin dub? Which in your opinion is better?
