I doubt most folks have enough time to watch 2-hour long "making of" documentaries any more. There's too much stuff to stream!

I think Lionsgate still makes some in-depth ones. Chaos Walking had some good featurettes and Prey for the Devil has almost 4 hours of special features. I recently watched Hunger Games and Catching Fire and really enjoyed the making-of for them.

As I got many films to watch, nowadays I skip watching extras unless I am super curious.

I used to be a big watcher of extras in the DVD days when there was less to watch on TV but you pretty much know how everything is done after seeing enough of them. Might as well watch another movie or a few episodes of show than 2 hours of extras these days.

Same, though it's not so much knowing how the sausage is made (I've been reading up on that shit for decades), it's getting the personal stories behind the productions that interest me. And a film doesn't have to be majorly troubled to be interesting, every film is an absolute slog to make and having an unvarnished look at that process intrigues me every time, which is why I like the Lionsgate extras as said above (Hi Cliff!) and Fox's VAM team were bloody good as well. Charlie de Lauzirika is another legend, he even made the production of Amazing Spider-Man 2 interesting to watch! The problem is the "unvarnished" part, as most modern 'making of' stuff is bland talking heads fluff that has no context or meaning, they could be talking about any movie as they spew out their generic platitudes about how it was so amazing to work with so-and-so.

Totally gone the other way with commentaries, I used to love them but now I couldn't give a shit. I end up just wanting to watch the film.

Yikes. Yeah, they have Ragnarok a 5/5 for audio. We can disregard with absolute confidence anything coming from that site/person/whatever it is.

Edit: Also, regarding commentaries, I used to love them when DVDs first came out. Then probably 15 years went by without me ever listening to one. But for whatever reason I recently decided to listen to the commentaries on the 4K releases of Tropic Thunder and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and I enjoyed them a lot. I think I might be getting back into commentaries.

Default Audio review is just insanely disappointing

It’s 2023 and we are getting discs with these audio tracks that are just underwhelming it’s flat out embarrassing, particularly these Disney discs that just make you wonder if they are purposely doing this to gear people towards Disney plus. I don’t know, I just don’t get it and it makes no sense. All of these Atmos tracks should be absolute powerhouses. Period. Just listen to Blade Runner 2049 in ATMOS and you tell me why these Disney releases are just pure shit in comparison. And what’s worse, they are inconsistent and some releases are really solid even if still having that “volume lowered” like I thought avengers endgame was quite good.

I saw this in the theater and it was incredible for the sound quality. What a shame.

Really starting to piss me off….

Yes! Love and thunder was another solid track it’s just insane that I actually have to say “wow this Disney disc isn’t terrible” when it should be a standard by now.

Yep and I think this site gave a poor score for Thor Love and Thunder unless they went back and corrected it.

Some lecture about increasing master volume will fix Atmouse but nothing much can be done if the mix is dynamically challenged and bass frequencies are neutered or if the lovely film makers wanted it to sound poor.

This funny to me. When Atmos & DTS:X came out it was suppose to knock DTS MA out the park. But it appears that Atmos is really lacking from dumb Disney. It's been what 10 years already and they still keep putting out these Weak AQ. I know they hear the complaints.

Before Atmos their DTS MA 7.1 Rocked the house. What gives! A movie budget of almost $200M and they can't get the sound right. In the theater it may sound good. But at home it is just Crap... But to be honest everybody system is tuned different. Reviewers can give low marks for AQ for some movies. But i play them and they Rock and sometimes don't. But these Marvel films are the Worst. And they budget is to Big to be having these Weak Ass AQ disc. Even the DTS MA 7.1 is Weak

I don't even want to buy it but my wife wants it. Other than that i don't even waste time or money Disney films.

That audio review sounds more like a 2.5 than a 3.5, Thor 4 got the same score for audio but that review sounded mildly positive. Either way, this is why I generally don't buy Disney discs anymore, a shame.

"The UHD is typical Disney: strong [but compressed to BD-66] 2160p/HDR picture [with no Imax scenes], struggling Atmos audio, and a few extras."
Called it...

If it helps, you could potentially find the Disney Plus Atmos mix and merge it with the mkv of the 4k if you do home streaming setups like Plex.

Might cop this.

It was the MCU's biggest comeback after NWH (I liked MoM, satisfactory follow-up to NWH, and Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel were all pretty good, but L&T and She-Hulk? Yeah- no.)

If I get it, you bet I'm customizing my copy to include the IMAX 4K video feed.
