As just a casual fan of the Star Trek universe in general, I quite enjoyed Nemesis. On it's own I thought it was a fun adventure romp. Generations is still my favorite Trek film out of the original ten films. Great passing of the torch stuff.

Thank god these are coming seperately, I can buy First Contact and Insurrection while ignoring the others. Generations has aged like a glass of milk on a playground in August, when the RLM review is more entertaining you have a problem. I have hated Nemesis since the first time I ever saw it in the theater, absolute square peg in a round hole for the majority of the runtime.

I'm still making my way through the ST: I-VI 4K box set, lol. By the time I'm finished this should be close to street date.
As for the NextGen movies, I will watch and appreciate all four. Generations always keeps my interest and it may be my favorite performance by Stewart - the character's sense of loss and regret (and resiliency) really comes through. First Contact is always touted as the best, and the action is pretty slick, but it's basically Die Hard/Airforce One 'Get off my timeline!'. Insurrection has grown on me over time for the believability of its ethical dilemma (tho I still want to squish that dumb little hamster). Nemesis is a different take on TNG shall we say - as standalone sci-fi it still manages to entertain. |

TREKNERD ALERT!! That constitutes a glaring continuity error! I was recently watching the TNG Episode, "Descent Part II" [Show spoiler] , and Geordi reminds Data of the time they "went sailing on Devala Lake." Data wanted to go swimming, jumped out of the boat, and sank straight to the bottom. Data: "I did not have enough buoyancy to get back to the surface." Geordi: "You had to walk over a kilometer along the bottom to get back to shore...it took almost two weeks to get the water out of your servos." TREKNERD EXPLANATION: as an android, Data was able to reprogram himself/tinker with his innards after that incident, and installed a flotation device subroutine in his positronic matrix sometime before Picard's Erection... uhh...I mean, Insurrection. (Actually, I still call shenanigans! But hey, anything for a laugh, right? ![]() I have serious issues with ALL the NexGen movies; regardless, I will still buy them all in 4K UHD and love them, in spite of some infuriating flaws, missed opportunities, and questionable execution. I suppose my relationship with the NexGen features could be described as dysfunctional; I enjoy them, and I enjoy ragging on them! |

Challenge accepted!
![]() It might actually be the last Star Trek movie. Consider whether everything Picard and Kirk do to stop Soran is just...Picard's Nexus fantasy. Oooh, Picard is soooo strong-willed and manly and determined, he is able to do the impossible--wish himself out of the Nexus. Bullshit! In the "real world," Picard, Kirk, even Soran are all still alive in the Nexus, Enterprise-D crew is all killed, all subsequent episodes of DS9, the entire Voyager series, and the three subsequent NexGen films... all Picard fantasies. But, hey, at least Kirk lives forever in the Nexus! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hold on.
So we have the 1-4 set.. Then the 1-6 set.. with Director's Cut.. Now we have the set with the TNG movies.. So.. like.. we're not gonna get a complete set with 10 movies.. or at least sets that are properly split between each saga/trilogy and not force me to rebuy movies again? |

while I do think it's great that these entries are coming to 4K now, I don't think they'll be as drastic of upgrades as the OG crew movies were
afaik the BDs of the TNG era didn't suffer NEARLY as badly on their BDs than the OG crew movies did |

Insurrection’s BD is one of the ghastliest DNR disasters I’ve ever seen, Generations and First Contact had a moderate beating with the DNR stick. As Bolty said, only Nemesis escaped.
As such these are going to be HUGE upgrades although some people will inevitably prefer the shitty old BDs precisely because they’re all sharpened and DNR’ed. |

Yeah, of the original 10 Star Trek movies Paramount released on Blu-ray back in 2009, only The Wrath of Khan (which eventually got a new restoration in 2016) and Nemesis ended up having decent transfers. Needless to say, I immediately sold my copies of the two boxsets (along with a single-disc copy of First Contact I had lying around) the moment the UHD versions were announced.
