It's my favorite of his, and his most underrated, but I don't know if that makes it his best. I would probably submit T2 in that category.

However, with the SAG strikes holding up most of Hollywood and Avatar sequels production delayed until further notice, it looks like Cameron will actually take the time to approve them and somebody will finally get these out. After all, he recently approved the Titanic 4k HDR that was in the pipeline for many years following Avatar 2 and is now coming in December.
I'm actually glad Cameron redid the scan and included the special edition, because The Abyss requires the extended version more than any other of his films

I hope it's true this time because I'm sick of hearing about it.

The Abyss will finally ger released but when people start getting their copies it will be found that the discs are all blank due to an authoring error. Disney will start a replacement program and it will take twenty-five more years for the disc to ship out.

When this finally gets announced, discussion will quickly go from “it’s about damned time” to “I’m not buying anything until reviews confirm there’s no DNR”. Frankly, I’m surprised that hasn’t happened already. Armchair critics lie in wait

So what will we do to Cameron WHEN it won't get released in a couple of months?

I presume the thinking is that a release won’t be this year but in 2024?

If true then it means some good will come out of the strikes! I haven’t seen The Abyss (brilliant btw) for many years as I’ve been holding out for a BD/4K release.

Or was he Jim Carrey's love interest in The Mask?
Or was he the British Prime Minister from 2010-2016?
