Today would be nice but I think it will take a couple more days to dot the "I's" and cross the "T's." Hopefully Penton has a few more power lunches in him this week.

But the good news is coming. I can smell it!!!!!!!!!!

unfortunately that link doesnt say anything we dont already speculate. Its common sense that both universal and paramount will and should support blu-ray now.

there isnt anything official per se, at this point. Only logical followthrough of events.

I have a feeling that Universal will announce sooner than the others. They had to have been planning for this for quite a long time now.

I didn't have access to my PC this weekend, so I was unaware of the CC database situation (which was the major point of interest in the article).

Most likely, we will hear some kind of announcement next week. This gives the studio's time to get their things together, and hopefully make some announcements regarding their first releases on (or back on) Blu-ray.

OOOh I cant wait for Team America or Paramount/Universal titles on BLU! Shooter may no longer 40 or 50 dollars !

Does Paramount still keep their $150 million?

"While Universal values the close partnership we have shared with Toshiba, it is time to turn our focus to releasing new and catalog titles on Blu-ray," said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

"The path for widespread adoption of the next-generation platform has finally become clear. Universal will continue its aggressive efforts to broaden awareness for hi-def’s unparalleled offerings in interactivity and connectivity, at an increasingly affordable price. The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate."

So unless I see a retraction, or something indicating this article is in error, that is one down.

Now just Paramount and Dreamworks

Who would of thought that Paramount would've been last? I thought Toshiba or Universal...I guess who cares, this is gonna be some high AMEX bill times again for me as the other studios start releasing their movies. Transformers, Bournes, and Shooter for a reasonable price!

Default Paramount may be the smartest of them all...

They switched only for a few months, made a load of money (more than they would have made selling blu-ray during those months) - and now they will just continue on where they left off.

They made out better than anyone

Paramount, however, lost reputation and image.

Warner Bros switches and the war is over. Paramount switches and NOTHING happens. Blu-Ray continues to steam ahead.

This shows that Paramount's market influence is low and hurts the image of the company. Does it mean anything? Probably not but it shows how little influence Paramount has at the moment.

And this war was bad how? Prices are lower now than they would have been..., the end result is the better technology won... AND Paramount made money from the war
