Personally, I'm waiting for the 16 disc edition, where each audio stream comes on a unique blu-ray. Or maybe the super deluxe 16 disc edition (for $898.00) with the "art card" and keychain. Mmmmm.

Just saw them both today. The second one flowed a lot better (which makes sense because those episodes are basically 9 episodes straight of one battle) while the first one felt too much like a rushed recap. Still, it was fun going through the whole series in 4 hours and one evening as opposed to 26 episodes across a week or two.

The video quality didn't impress me much, save for a few shots. I know someone wants to chime in and say "wHaT dId YoU eXpEcT" considering the source material but I thought if they were offering a 4K release then they would have had 4K elements to draw from or bolder colors. As it stands, I couldn't tell the difference between this and the Blu-Ray discs that came with the Complete Series box set.

Considering the packaging didn't even come with a slipcover, I'd say this is a seriously overpriced collectors item. If you don't need the English Dub, I'd say put that money toward the complete box set (which I was able to pick up within this past year for $100 straight from CrunchyRoll, which apparently was a very rare restock sale, but its not impossible to get). The movies were always a kind of cool "revisit" of the original series, and I'm glad I watched it, but it doesn't stand on its own like, say, the Evangelion Rebuild movies.

I got this show when it was on dvd and it overwhelmed it with all the action and looked aliasing and bad looking.. then blu ray came out and they re composited it which is rare for any show to get at all. I think the 4k made it a bit sharper and HDR helped alot with the colors. I watched Paprika 4k movie afterwards and they both are upscales.

If there were improvements (and I'm sure there were), i didn't really notice them, not enough to justify the purchase. Sorry, I don't mean to be down on it, especially since you're clearly ecstatic about it.
