Stay safe! I was wondering how that affected you when I heard about it. Not sure how bad it was. Then today there was an earthquake and aftershock in New York/New Jersey. Crazy.

Invasion (2005-2006) (22 episodes, 907m)

I started watching this show when it originally aired, but was super busy that year and couldn't remember if I had finished it or how it ended. It ran for only one season and is often cited as a series that was canceled too soon. It had solid ratings and critical acclaim, but the ABC executives didn't like it enough. It followed Lost and they thought it should have retained more of Lost's audience. Some say it was a mistake to put two mythology heavy shows back to back. It was also a Warner Bros produced show, so ABC/Disney didn't own it and thus had less of a vested interest.

It's a good show. Set in the Florida Everglades after a hurricane. People are changing and there's strange happenings around town and the characters are just trying to figure out what's going on and are concerned with keeping their loved one's safe. The cast is great!

It obviously has some inspiration from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but it's very different. Veronica Cartwright even makes an appearance or two. I realized on this rewatch that Elizabeth Moss has a major recurring supporting role. She plays a batshit crazy character. You can see her talent and it's not surprising she went on to have a great career.

I recommend the show. I watched it on the DVD set, which is good, but it's also streaming for free on Tubi and the Roku Channel.

This was certainly quite the series. It started out in 1899 as a historical drama at least that's what I thought. A passenger liner with people of different ethnic backgrounds on board, were on their way to the US for a better life.

I was quite confused after two episodes but then I started to figure things out about midway through the series. It started out as a drama, then I wondered if it was horror until it became Science Fiction. I didn't guess the last scene but I wasn't surprised. Thank you graf1k for this excellent recommendation. I will have to check out The Dark as I see it's also on Netflix.

Twisted Metal (Season 1)

[Show spoiler]Was a big fan of the games when I was younger. Many a Friday night was spent playing split screen against friends and it was one of the few games I could get my dad to play with me.

I'm kind of surprised how well they adapted the plot of the game into an entire show. It's a little wacky at times but appropriately so for a show about a post apocalyptic destruction derby. This first season is more of a prequel it seems, introducing characters from the games and mixing in new ones for the show and generally setting the tone. I have to admit, when I first heard they were turning Twisted Metal into a show, it sounded ridiculous and I feared it would be embarrassingly bad, but I enjoyed it. I'm curious to see the second season now and really interested in seeing if they bring in the more supernatural characters like Darkside and Spectre. I mean, why not? They already have Sweet Tooth, an insane asylum escapee who wears a clown mask and who's head is (pretty much) perpetually on fire...
