Incredibly lame that this is UK only. 88’s keeping all the best shit locked up in region B. They’d make a killing if this was also for region A.

I sure hope so. It would sell very well here.

Yeah, I should’ve been more specific. I was referring exclusively to the HK Cat III and Japanese splatter titles.

Yeah, kinda wish if someone is putting these out in the states, they would let us know soon, so I can import this if not.

I have the Synapse dvds of the first 2, but with the way the releases to the great Nikkatsu films they put out over the past couple years were handled, I doubt it'll be them.

Curious as to why 88 seemingly aren't selling this directly out of their webstore?

Because the release date hasn't been finalised/discs haven't been pressed yet. That is the point at which 88 add the title to their website.

I'd be amazed if this isn't delayed into Q4.

Incredibly lame that you haven't got a multi-region player

88 almost certainly have to pay for whatever region they're releasing in and they probably just paid for the UK.

I'm glad they're okay with posting their releases worldwide. Some other boutique labels cite region concerns and don't even do that.

That makes sense. It's just there have been other listings on the site that would seemingly be in the same boat. Wasn't American Pie on there long before things were finalised?

Regardless, I kind of wish these companies would just keep a lid on things until everything is actually set to go. I don't understand this need to hype things up so far in advance that all the inevitable delays and setbacks become public knowledge. What's the benefit? Is it just any publicity is good publicity?

Where are you getting the info for the unfinalised release date? My local HMV told me they were getting 6 copies in on Sept 23rd, but I guess that's subject to change!

If that date were sticking, final specs would be out by now as per the course with 88. Your HMV store will have 6 copies on order, and their systems will show the release date of Sep 23rd. Then when the release date changes, they'll have 6 copies on order for whenever the release date will be.

Like I said, I'd be amazed if 23rd September sticks.

Fascinating. Never heard of these. But I am all for it.

Couldn't find any trailers for them, I can find clips but no trailers for them. Time to do more... homework.

EDIT: Oh... the names are different? Hold on.

Guts of a Beauty is really called Entrails of a Beauty

Guts of a Virgin is actually Entrails of a Virgin

Rusted Body is Female Inquisitor?

What's going on w/ the names here? Is this a whole thing like that Jet Li set w/ Eureka and My Father is a Hero (aka The Enforcer). Having to use the UK titles of these things or what? I'm confused here.

Just about all films have different titles in different countries. Lots of them have multiple titles in the same country.

They're very sleazy and I can't post the screenshots from earlier releases that I've seen. I hope 88. continues with even more Japanese madness in this vein. Some Wakamatsu releases would be great.

for the life of me never understood why people bypassed nikkatsu RP if they're fans of sleaze. these much more lowly and far less interesting things that have inexplicable positive reputations that turn up every so many years are completely off the mark to me compared to so much of that stuff that seems to have gone largely ignored which made appearances often just once on DVD or BD ... or just not spoken about.

Tell you what is lame, we've had hardly any Cat III releases in the UK until fairly recently.
Chances are any previous releases may have been trimmed/cut.

Anyone wanting to watch this stuff had to import from overseas. That is lame.

we need both more Cat III and way more Nikkatsu. There are some stunners from both fields dying out for a release. Fingers crossed.

LIMITED EDITION OF 3000 UNITS

INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED OBI SLIP

Booklet notes by Johannes Schonherr

Discover the visceral world of Kazuo 'Gaira' Komizu with the definitive trilogy boxset: "Guts of a Beauty," "Guts of a Virgin," and "Rusted Body." Renowned for his outrageous and uncompromising vision, Gaira delves into the darkest corners of human nature and desire. Each film weaves a gripping narrative with unflinching imagery, pushing the boundaries of horror and eroticism. This collection is a must-have for fans of provocative cinema, offering a unique glimpse into the twisted genius of one of Japan's most controversial directors.

Guts of a Virgin: A group of photographers and their models on a remote porn shoot discovers that their secluded location harbors a dark secret. As night falls, they are hunted by a grotesque creature born from their worst nightmares. The lines between reality and horror blur as they fight for their lives, confronting their own fears and desires.

Guts of a Beauty: In a world where innocence meets terror, a nurse undertakes an investigation into why a young woman who stumbles into her surgery has killed herself. Her navigations within the urban labyrinth reveal horrific crimes by a yakuza gang who are using a rare drug to sexually enslave women. Each encounter pushes her closer to the brink of sanity, blending horror with a raw exploration of human resilience.

Rusted Body - Guts of a Virgin III: An oversexed female inquisitor leads her gang of sexually depraved female misfits in a scheme to get the corrupt businessman they have kidnapped to divert a huge amount of stolen assets to them. Their elaborate torture methods escalate to a crescendo of perverted lust and savagery.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Original 2.0 Japanese Mono with improved English subtitles
Brand new interview with director Kazuo 'Gaira' Komizu
Stills galleries
