I remember the Unrated version craze of the early 2000s, but every studio was doing it, even Disney. Then it was the extended cuts craze and then the directors cut craze. It got so out of hand everyone expected new cuts, even today.
It’s a homage to Mad Max and Escape from New York. Heck, two characters are named Miller and Carpenter in it. It’s not designed to break new ground but just a fun flick in the same genre.

Love this movie and love that it's a homage and ripoff. I love a good ripoff lol, two of the best ripoffs, 2019 After The Fall Of New York and American Cyborg Steel Warrior are awesome!

Can anyone give some sort of feedback concerning the picture quality? Encoding, DNR, grain, HDR, black level, black crush, banding,...
I know there are review vids on youtube, but these guys are mostly idiots imo.
Thx.

I got mine today and the picture looks perfect to me. The film takes up 81GB on the disk. Grain looked very natural to me. I'm no technical expert mind, but I compared it to the old blu ray (which I thought was great too) and it's a significant upgrade. I'm sure someone else can come along and offer far more insight than that, but it's a solid yes from me.

Watched mine a couple nights ago. I actually watched the BD about a week before this got announced(gotta love how that goes). It’s absolutely a big improvement in most every way. Has the true 4K look throughout while having a healthy grain field. Black levels and shadow detail are excellent, HDR arguably runs a tad hot, but it fits, no doubt what they were going for.

And ya.. Rhona in 4K. *imagine Wayne’s World shwing gif here*

One of the best cult films of the latter 2000s. So much fun and pays homage to just about every genre and sub-genre film out there.

The 4K of the theatrical cut was great. Will watch the Unrated BD at some point since that one was at least taken from the 4K source. This is top-tier Neil Marshall.

Totally agree. I watched my copy right before the Christmas movie season began. Couldn't believe I had not watched it more than once when I bought the BD. It's great in that it takes so much from other movies yet finds a way to stand on its own.
