Got mine today, just finished watching it. Still one of my favourite childhood films.

Any direct comparisons with Umbrella that demonstrate the promised better compression yet?

Compared to the Warner release, the colour timing is definetly better here. Noticealbly in the post-credits sequence.

My copy arrived today. Haven't rewatched this film for at least a few years, so it will be fun to revisit.

I just watched an unboxing of this, and I'm so perplexed by this release. The hardcase and the slip both look nice, but who asked for forty (40!) pages of nothing but screengrabs?

They did call it a "picture book" which has always meant just that - shots from the film, not even memorabilia, posters, BTS etc.

While I'd have loved essays and such, they've just done what they said they would.

I love how back in the 80s as a kid the first you would know about a film like this would be a trailer or even better just walking past the cinema and seeing that a film about something you were crazy about was out now and have no idea it was even being made.

This film had weird timing as He-Man had kinda dipped in popularity by 1987 and kids had moved on to Thundercats or The Real Ghostbusters.

I'm not saying that they didn't, just that I don't see the point. Perhaps I was secretly hoping for more. In any case, now I really regret not getting Umbrella's CE while it was still available, and then 88's standard release for the better compression, providing that turns out to be true. Oh well, can't win them all...

In my case I actually first read the comic book adaptation. Oh, and I also got the Gwildor action figure.

Just to be clear these are still photographs and not screen captures...

You know - the things we see in any standard booklet from Arrow or other labels - a bit of everything, not just screen grabs.

What's the point of dozens of screenshots?
You used to get picture books of films that were exactly this or sometimes with some annotation. I don't see it as disingenuous. If it said booklet? Sure.

its just a shame that the extended interviews from the Electric boogaloo that is on the Umbrella Entertainment release are shorter because the robert edlund one is missing and so is the Masters of the Universe 2 - Tales of the Sequel That Never Was" 2024 featurette.
