Hopefully it will be in the coming week or next week, I rewatched The Witch and The Lighthouse and will be watching The Northman, but Eggers is such a masterful filmmaker I love his vision and what he puts to screen. I look forward to seeing his career progress and the subsequent films he brings us!

I know that typically Universal has their releases up for pre-order on Gruv the day they come out in theaters. But this seems to be different with it being from Focus Features.

Anyone know how many film versions of NOSFERATU there have been in the last hundred or so years? Twenty five? Fifty? Can any of them top Herzog's 1979 version with Kinski?

3 film versions
1. Nosferatu 1922
2. Nosferatu 1979
3. Nosferatu 2024
And they are all good in their own ways IMHO as they all attempt a different take on the story. One is not trying to emulate the other in a filmmaking style. Is just comes to personal taste and tolerance of which one you prefer.
Herzog is not trying to copy Murnau. Eggers is not trying to copy Herzog.

As for versions or variations of the 1922 production, that's a different story.

Ordered the steelbook from HMV (UK). Artwork TBC but current mock up is the same cover as the amaray

A very good performance from Jones as Orlok but not much else. Also probably the most intensely unlikeable version of Harker/Hutter ever put to film.

Jones's performance is about the only thing in the movie that is any good. The budgetary limitations really show elsewhere. It's way too stagey and dull and it will suffer badly in comparison to the '24 version.

Hyped for an extended cut! It kills me that the promo shot showing Dafoe laughing while everything around him's on fire was cut, so I hope that's in the longer one.

I don't know how I feel about an extended cut, I guess as long as the theatrical is also included in 4K it's fine.

The original told its story in 90 minutes (including intertitles) and it never feels rushed or unsatisfying. Even the Herzog remake/re-adaptation came in under 2 hours while expending on the original. Stretching that same story to something like two and a half hours seems a bit excessive.
