Not on my 42"...I'm not missing out on anything...if I would of bought a 1080p I would of wasted my money cause I wouldn't see the extra detail kinda like JasonR is...he isn't seeing that extra detail although he thinks he is...

Actually where you would be sitting wouldn't be the place where you get the best possible resolution...on your 40" you would have to be sitting 6ft to maximize your resolution!!!

I have a chair that sits four feet away, and I believe I said 6-8 feet approx. for the sofa.

No, I don't have to justify my purchases to anyone. Especially not Tyler2106. I bought the TV because I liked it and it was in my price range. Was there one similar that was 720p, yeah but the cost was negligible so why not buy the better of the two.

Actually there are many factors. 1080p will be better than 720p but you need a big display to see it, 40" or larger and also take into account your viewing distance from the TV. I can't really see any big improvement on 32" display. Maybe the colors looks better but that's it.

I had a 720p rear-projector TV and upgraded recently to a 1080p plasma. There is obvious improvement due to the higher resolution when playing back BD disc. Background objects become sharper and the image packs more "punch" but I won't say it is a day and night difference.

If you are planning to buy a display, choose 1080p. The small difference in price ( if any ) will make it future-proof.

well you enjoy you 40" 1080p tv from 4ft away lol and I don't know how your tv was closely priced with the 720p tv seeing how still today the Sony 720p and 1080p aren't closely priced...but ok whatever you say

How is buying a 1080p future proofing if a 720p tv accepts 1080p signals??? And if anything new comes out that a 720p cant except well then the 1080p isn't going to be able to accept it either...so that is incorrect statement...

I have a chair 4 ft away, as well as other pieces of furniture. It is called a living room, you might get one when you move out of mommy and daddy's. Maybe by then you can pay the HUGE price difference.

Sonystyle.com has them at a $200 difference...so if that is the case when you most likely got yours it was a bigger difference!!! And your mommy and daddy comment, was that supposed to be funny or are you just making yourself sound dumb??? Cause like other things(1080p v. 720p and the S300 decoding TruHD) your are once again wrong about me living with mommy and daddy...

Fact - 1080p > 720p
Fact - S300 decodes TrueHD

Tell mommy and daddy hi.
