I think my favorite moment in the movie
[Show spoiler](besides every above the waist shot of Ann-Margret) is the quick look on Art's face when Jack leaves Candace Bergen on the screen for precisely 3 tenths of one second during his "Ballbusters on Parade" PowerPoint presentation. So good.

Sometimes even with FIM you can get a better edition for some reason or another. FIM did Fear and Loathing (I believe) yet the Criterion appears to be the more popular version due it to being closer to reference prints in grading.

This is a 4K restoration licensed from StudioCanal and both releases are coming out only a month apart, so I doubt there are any substantial differences here in presentation outside of the actual encoding.

Just had a mail from HMV saying the release date for Carnal Knowledge has changed to 30th June.

Final specs, including quite a bit extra on top of the original announcement:

We're also delighted to be able to confirm that the Oscar-winning Jules Feiffer short Munro is also being presented in full 4K UHD.

I'm going to post this information in both the Criterion and Indicator threads. This is from the DVDBeaver review. Worth noting for those deciding.

NOTE: The white fades in Carnal Knowledge are pivotal moments that underscore the film’s emotional and thematic resonance. The recent restoration, which has been presented theatrically across the globe in recent years, initially lacked the 1:24:40, critical white fade (prior to the slideshow.) By cross-referencing with older prints and DVDs sourced from those prints, Indicator identified and restored this missing element. This commitment to accuracy and fidelity is presumably why they describe their release as "Definitive" on the packaging.

NOTE: The Criterion does not have a 'fade to white' at around 1:24:40 (right before the slideshow) that the Indicator does have.

Thanks for sharing that. I just checked my email and saw a shipping notice from Orbit, good to know that my copy of the “definitive” release is on its way!

Default Just Arrived!

Mine just came in from Indicator! Can’t wait to pop it in! Quick question, this is my first Indicator Release, is this normal placement for titles on the spine or should it be centered?

Completely as intended. Looking at them horizontally, our spine titles have been left-justified in the same position since our very first releases way back in 2016.

Based on those DVDBeaver caps, plus the FiM encoding and stronger set of extras, Indicator's release is the clearly superior one. Unless one doesn't have a Region Free player or a 4K set up, not sure why anyone would choose the Criterion over this.

Also, got my tracking number from Atomic this afternoon!

Received my UHD copy yesterday, love the new(??) slimline slipcase packaging and dispensing of the scanavo. This & Day at the Beach are my first Indicator purchases since Remember the Night.

Still think the red is incongruous, think black would have worked wonderfully well.

Funny a few people were complaining about this same identical situation with some shipments from Super Deluxe Edition site https://www.thesdeshop.com Blu-Ray audio discs. From UK into Chicago over on the Steve Hoffmann music threads.

https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threa...39596/page-203 Post is from about 8:46 Am today Page 203 of the thread.

We are thinking its the opening packages and verifying them. I'm guessing after a few days it should update and continue shipping onward to its destination.

Man, they shoved my orbit box into my mailbox, and I could barely get it out. I don't know how he got it in there but damn! Luckily it was bubble wrapped and in perfect condition, not going to be able to watch until Saturday but can't wait!

I watched this two nights in a row and I love this transfer. Beautiful film grain, Love the 1970s technicolor 4ks. Did anyone else buy this? I feel like nobody is even talking about how good this 4k looks

I understand that all of your titles are justified to the left, but when you look at Carnal Knowledge when it's vertical on the shelf, the text and logo are off-centre.

It's particularly noticeable if you look at the Powerhouse Films logo at the top. I guess it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Terrific release btw.
