Probably because Legacy is already in 3D, even if it is weak 3D.

I'd love them to do the original Tron in 3D so we can have a 3D Tron triple feature.

And hot damn, that's some great 3D Ares has.

In case Garrett Hedlund doesn't appear in Ares, I don't want to hear any of you blame the movie for not being what you wanted it to be.

Tron 3-D could've been a clever title, but 3D fansj can still call it that either way.

I don't see anything in the trailer preventing the 3D from being pushed further, especially since anyone with time on their hands could do a version of the trailer using 50% disparity using DepthCrafter/VideoDepthAnything Depth Maps + Stereocrafter for a professional style 3D conversion.

For those that forgot how mild Tron Legacy was... Here's a 3D GIF comparing a shot from Legacy and Ares.

You don't see barely any rotation in the famous Quorra shot... It's essentially flat, despite being filmed with a 3D camera.
Thanks for those images. Nice disc pop outs. Those do look better than Tron 2's mild 3D, even if they could've pushed it further (but end up with more ghosting likely).
I'm thinking of the shots where the Recognizer Leg Tank is moving through the City at night. Those could've been pushed more for the 3D I felt from the 3D trailer I saw a couple times now. I'll say those were in the low medium range, just slightly above mild 3D.

I'm expecting a mild to medium 3D range for Tron 3, but hoping for some strong 3D surprises.

I'm still a Tron fan, but it would be good if Tron himself Bruce Boxleitner shows up more importantly. Sam and Chorra would be a bonus as their story mostly ended in Tron 2, except for Sam, who took over Encom. What happened there needs to be addressed hopefully.

I don't understand what's happening in the pics, but it looks cool nonetheless.

Looks like a war where the good programs aligned with Flynn, who is now probably a program in the Grid, are trying to stop the evil, ambitious programs from invading the real world. I'll bet Flynn knows what happened to Tron as he was sinking to the bottom of the ocean. No way they'll leave that story hanging if this is really part 3, where the programs invade Earth as planned by Clu from Tron 2.

Thanks again. Always good to have a pair of anaglyph red/cyan glasses near my monitor.

tangentially related - the Tron coaster is going to have a temporary red light overlay (usually blue) and the new music from NIN
