You know I really didn't notice the flickering until I saw my BU of Zombie last year, back then when I purchased it I didn't have a 4K OLED tv so now it's kind of obvious there's something wrong with the transfer.

I think Blue Underground should start from scratch and redo the 4K transfer.

Would have bought the Arte Originale if it was Zombi 2. Oh well.

I think I am going to wait and see if its actually different than the BU. Presumably its the same transfer. Don't care about the DV issue with the BU, since I don't care about DV.

I've only once had an undamaged box set (the first time I ordered one from them I believe) and my experience since then has only solidified my feeling that that was a lucky one-off. As a rule I no longer order from them directly (I made an exception for Buttgereit as there was no other way of getting it and I'm a fan).

What you need to understand is that when you order from Arrow, you're not really ordering from Arrow, you're ordering from The Hut Group. Your items will be packaged and shipped in the same warehouses that pack and ship protein powder and cosmetics.

They don't care about your fancy Limited Edition boxset. They have no comprehension that they're handling valuable collectors items. It's just another product to them. No different.

And the customer service (you'll be dealing with multiple Hut Group employees based in Africa) will probably shave a few years off your life if you have to deal with them in the aftermath.

I'm sure some people will be along shortly who swear blind that they've never had an issue, but I always assume they just have different standards than me (which is fine).
I just cancelled. It's a nice set but I think I would rather just order the nonexclusive version from Orbit and not have to worry about the condition when it arrives. It's also much cheaper.

My guess is it's the exact same transfer. I don't care about DV either since on my Sony Bravia 9 HDR10 looks better anyway. I actually disabled DV on my Panasonic 4K player.

Do we think Zombie is a big enough project to warrant Arrow engaging FiM? I really don’t want Average House getting their paws on this and doing what they did to Don’t Torture a Duckling 4k.

Ahhhh.. one can never have enough releases of Zombie!
I'd love that original art but I don't want to deal with Arrows customer service in case an issue arises
Standard through Diabolikdvd it is!

The only time DV makes an improvement is when the label did an incompetent HDR10 transfer, or when the display itself is incompetent.

Those in the US, who you going with, Orbit or Diabolik? It's a little more from Diabolik but I have more faith in being happy with the copy I get (no damage etc) by going through Diabolik. I have no experience with Orbit.

Also, I remember I jumped all over the overseas Hellraiser set from Arrow only for them to release a US version later on. Wonder if that formula will keep repeating itself. I dont care which one I get but it's nice to know there'll be additional opportunities to secure it.

Wait, what? What's wrong with the Don't torture a duckling 4k? Still haven't bought that one.

All 12 of my store exclusive blu-rays/4Ks I ordered from either Arrow UK or Arrow US in the last 4+ years have arrived in pristine condition to me here in the States. Maybe I have been lucky? Maybe my luck will run out eventually? Possibly.
But I just had to order a copy of the Zombie Flesh Eaters Arte Originale edition, because I love this film, and I found the purple art on the widely available release quite hideous.

Atomic, Orbit and Diabolik will all pack it pretty much the same - well protected with bubble wrap inside a box. Orbit and Atomic will likely deliver quicker than Diabolik, though Atomic might be the fastest.

I honestly wouldn't tell the difference between the two on my A95K if it didn't pop up and tell me.

I get my orders faster from orbitDVD usually around 4 to 6 days and they're well packaged. I don't pay taxes although now if you pre order a overseas bluray here in the US you have to pay a tariff orbitdvd pays the other half.

I was honestly surprised FIM didn’t do Duckling. I guess I just thought since it is a top tier giallo. Have not watched my copy yet so I can’t vouch for its strengths and weaknesses.

For real though, I don't even get how it's possible given the minimal packaging and complete lack of added protection (bubblewrap etc) that Arrow have used down the years.

Please don't take this as an interrogation or callout of your credibility (I come in peace), but when you say "pristine" do you mean literally no dings whatsoever? No dull/blunted corners on hardboxes? Not even slightly? I just find it so hard to believe. You can't have ordered that Jackie Chan set, I know that much!

I have no idea how they package things in the States but when I ordered a few boxsets from them here they were very much just slung in a box with a bit of screwed up brown paper wedged in one side. The replacements they sent were exactly the same. All damaged from sliding around.

If it's just one item it might be in one of those wraparound packages with the strip you tear off (presumably there's an actual name for those) which are better, but they don't use bubblewrap so there's always a bit of a risk if the handling is heavy. That was the only time I got something undamaged.

They did do a special double-box style thing with the Buttgereit set, but like I said previously I went through a whole load of them that were all significantly damaged. They were all clearly damaged prior to shipping though as the packaging was clearly superior to what I'd experienced in the years prior, which says more about the UK warehouses handling the products than it does the packaging itself in this instance.

Anyway, I'm just moaning now. Genuinely hope you get your Zombie copy in good nick.

I noticed it straight away and wondered if it was me as i had read nothing but positive reviews but it looked like it was weirdly pulsing. If turning DV off fixes it though I will give it another spin.

I’ve given up on the exclusive slipcover editions from the UK store. Every one arrives in those small padless mailers with some kind of damage. I even stupidly tried ordering two copies hoping one would arrive decent. Nope. One had the top of the case smashed to bits, it was totally gone, with the slip beat to heck and the other had a creased slipcover. I gave up after that. Also gave up on the larger sets after the whole Bruce Lee fiasco. For some reason I’ve had better like with the chipboard case sets, even with the superfluous slipcover, because they seem to pack that one just right. But even that has been pure luck.

You have officially talked me out of ordering from the UK store. As much as I like the arte originale edition, I’d rather not risk it arriving damaged along with dealing with Arrow’s lack of customer service.

I’ll probably end up getting the Barney edition. Considering I already have the BU release, I’m gonna wait it out a bit to see if FiM will be handling this one.
