Is portuguese a dead language?

Why no audio and/or subtitles in portuguese for recent releases, specially in 4K?

What do studios have against portuguese language?

Portuguese is not a dead language. What is dead though is physical media in Brazil and also Portugal, if I'm not mistaken. There have been no official releases from Disney since 2020 and other studios since the end of 2022.

And that's the sole reason why there are no Portuguese languages in any new releases. And it will continue to be so. Brazilian people in general have no interest in physical media anymore. We're a dying breed, brother.

Also they don't dub a lot of foreign films anyhow. Every time I've been to Portugal I'm always able to find films on national TV in their original language, even kids cartoons like Battle of The Planets are in Japanese with Portuguese subs

Well, dubbing is not a problem in Brazil. It's actually pretty strong. Almost everything gets dubbed here. The only problem is that physical media is not a thing anymore here. Just so you understand: by 2022 the studios were producing a thousand copies of blu-ray editions of a new release, sometimes 500 copies only, and those were not selling out. In a country as big as Brazil, sadly that shows how it wasn't profitable to the studios to keep on trying.

Well they did lock the (at the time) highest grossing animated movie, that being inside out 2, a sequel to a already really popular movie, behind a steelbook. So who knows. Would be very stinky if tron ares got a standard yet inside out 2 and potentially the upcoming toy story 5 somehow didn't.

It will be steelbook only just like all other new Disney branded titles in USA.
