I believe this is the Saw III he's referring to. A bit too pricey though. |

It's pricey, because I think it went OOP along with the complete I-VII Blu-Ray boxset I have, some time ago. However, you could probably get it used for less, somewhere else. |

Be also aware that there's also a trimmed-down Theatrical version as well (which runs for 106 minutes, and has Troy in the front cover). The only way to get the SC Director's Cut is to get the I-VII Final Boxset they released a few years ago. Not sure if they ever made a standalone SC release for the DC. Although, unlike the Metropolitan release, which has a DTS-HD MA 6.1 track, the StudioCanal releases have a DTS-HD HR 7.1 track. |

Is there a master list of where to buy every cut and to have every special feature for the Saw franchise?

First WB uses a BTS shot for the back cover of Nightmare on Elm Street, now Lionsgate is using BTS stuff on Saw...what's going on here? Why are these studios using shots like that for the artwork? It makes no sense.

I noticed all of the back covers for the three releases have been pulled from Amazon. Hopefully a sign that it's getting updated with new info about the unrated cut being included (on the BD at least).

If it's just included, that's fine. If it's replacing the theatrical UHD, then eww I really hope not.

No way I am buying just the Unrated cuts again for the billionth time because a bunch of moronic consumers complained about not getting their marketing gimmick cut (Director of Saw 2 explained in the commentary that all the cut footage in the the Unrated cut was due to pacing, not Censorship because of the extra footage being NC-17. He said theatrical is the definitive version to watch). (Yh I am crashing out). I am mostly worried here because of Cliff removing his comment and response indicating that something he was saying could be untrue. They should just be putting all of the cuts of each film on 4k. But the ones that are in need of an actual release ARE the theatricals. If this is a bait and switch ![]() |

The uncut version has 50 cuts for violence according to movie-censorship.com. They’re not gimmicks, they’re all legitimately uncensored. Which is why I’m not buying these unless they include unrated 4K versions.

The standalone release is still on Amazon.fr, but it's sold through third-party sellers now, I believe. Metropolitan still keeps the disc in print... via box sets. Their 1-X box set is still in print.

Via Vision box set gets you the unrated cuts of the films. The discs are all ports of Lionsgate's releases, but they put together a bonus disc that brings over the German-exclusive interviews and the stuff that Lionsgate never ported from the DVD. For the director's cut of Saw III, the French Blu-Ray is the only release. It's Region B locked. If you really want everything, track down the old DVD because the second disc has two trivia games that weren't ported. In Canada, the theatrical cuts were all given barebones releases. The first three are bundled together. These are Region A-locked. Saw III-Saw VI had their theatrical cuts released in Italy. I don't know about the first two or Saw 3D. However, the Japanese Blu-Ray for Saw II is the theatrical cut and has an interview with Darren Lynn Bousman at the Japanese premiere. Saw 3D's kind of a weird one owing to the 3D getting anaglyph transfers and whatnot, but DVD Compare will tell you which release is which for that. That'll pretty much cover everything minus the few minor things here and there (galleries, maybe a trailer or TV spot, etc.) EDIT: There’s also a release that has the unrated cut without the bits of dialogue removed. It was on DVD in Germany, and maybe on Blu-Ray in the UK? Last edited by jstxanothrxstory; 08-26-2025 at 01:03 AM. |
