What is the purpose of these lights (except to make it look cool)?
Is it against eye-strain or something? |

[QUOTE=mainman;678195]What is the purpose of these lights (except to make it look cool)?
In addition to relieving eye strain, the back lights increase contrast in dark scenes and improve black level of your TV set! Actually, it really doesn't change your TV set but it changes the iris of your eye. In a dark seen normally iris would open and takes more light into the eye, so blacks may look like grey. If the iris closes in a dark seen (due to back light), the amount of lights get into your eye is low and therefore, black levels of the picture would be improved and the blacks would look blacker. It works like the auto iris function of recent projectors that enhances contrast. Magic! |
