Blu-ray.com lists the DigiBook version of Bonnie & Clyde as a 50GB disc, while the non-DigiBook edition is 25GB. I wonder if this is a typo? Can anyone confirm this?

Also, for those who have the non-DigiBook version, is there a booklet included in the case?

Thanks.

No need to worry, the digibook version is single layered, too.

thanks for the quick reply, but I wonder why both Blu-ray.com and Highdefdigest.com lists it as 50GB?

Edit: Hmmmm....DVDBeaver says it is a single-layer disc. Strange...

Plus a sound upgrade! According to the review on here, the audio on the current BD is lossy mono... At least make it lossless!

Just got around to watching this and overall it's good with lots of interesting extras.

The thing I find interesting is the camera focus on different scenes. At first I thought it was a bad transfer, but some scenes are nice and sharp. Then I thought they were using glamor filters, but then I got to looking around the scene(s) and noticed that although the face of Faye Dunaway appeared soft, looking at her hair on the side of her head I could see individual hairs that were very sharp. So now I think that the camera man mis focused a few times. Not real noticeable and certainly not a deal breaker, just interesting.

I just finished watching Bonnie and Clyde for the first time. I'm glad that I waited until Blu-ray to check out this film, because this is a great-looking disc with some fun extras.

I was not around when Bonnie and Clyde was released in 1967, but I can imagine how it must have made big waves with audiences. Like Pulp Fiction almost 30 years later, this movie is unflinchingly honest with its depictions of violence and death. People do not just fall down and disappear from the screen. The dead bodies are a mess and someone has to clean up the mess. I'm inclined to think that films like these help to minimize violence in the real world instead of glamorizing it.

Warner Bros. really owns it when it comes to the gangster films.

Big time! One of my faves when it first came out. I haven't watched the bluray of it yet, but could at any given time. Great cast and soundtrack too.

LOVE Bonnie and Clyde..envy anyone seeing it for the first time. Chemistry between Beatty and Dunaway was off the charts. Beatty made a brave choice not playing Clyde as a movie star. Really a magnetic performance.

You're right about the violence..it doesn't flinch. According to my Dad this was THE movie parents wanted their kids to avoid back in the day, for a variety of reasons. Still holds up very well.

Yes, but the performance from that movie that has always left the biggest impression on me -- perhaps in a manner similar to that of Nickelson's in Easy Rider -- is Hackman's in the supporting role.

I look at a few films from that era (Bonnie and Clyde, The Graduate, Easy Rider) as being some of the most important and best American films ever made.

Apparently this was the first film to feature a gun shot hitting its victim in the same frame, which was both innovative AND shocking back in the day. It's still a fantastic film with a great cast and so influential too when you think of wonderful films like Badlands that came out in its wake.

Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of one of the most defining films of New Hollywood, Bonnie and Clyde.

It's currently part of TCM's Fathom Events series, and it was shown yesterday and will be shown again on August 16. didn't know where to put this but there are these articles that really explain why the film was a milestone in cinema:

Is "Bonnie & Clyde" a 4k restoration?

----
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Blade Runner," "Bonnie and Clyde," "Cool Hand Luke" and the Dirty Harry films "Magnum Force" and "Sudden Impact" are titles from the Warner Bros. vault that have been chosen for 4K restorations.

4K resolution, which uses 4,000 lines of scanning per frame of film, offers more picture information -- four times the amount found in today's commonly used 2K resolution.

The studio is eyeing two high-definition DVD format offerings for the restored films -- Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD -- as well as standard-definition DVD. The "Blade Runner" release is planned for this year, which marks the 25th anniversary of the film's release.

I believe the existing blu ray, like Blade Runner, was from a 4k restoration.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but that does come as a surprise.

As far as I'm aware it's around a decade old.

Yeah, released in 2008, I suppose it could be 4K, but I'd be surprised.

...& looking at caps-a-holic it looks like Warner used the same HD master that they used for the DVD.

Surprisingly, both of the current Blu-rays (2008 Digibook & 2010 Standard edition) are from a 2007 4K restoration. There was an article posted on this site back in July around the 50th Anniversary confirming. Guess scan quality wasn’t as discussed back when these discs were originally reviewed. Higher bitrates, a modern compression codec (the current discs are VC-1), and lossless mono would certainly make it better, but this is still a strong release.

The opening is supposed to be sepia, not black and white.
