I have mixed feelings about that because of course family is most important if that is really a serious problem for him, but I also feel like he has a certain responsibility to research his character and role. The Max Payne games have a very specific feel and presentation. I suppose the direction, script, and post production will play a large role in that, but the title character's actor needs to be well informed also. Hopefully he was able to understand the role through other means.
Yeah, but we're talking about the guy that supposedly moved in with the family of the role he was playing in "The Perfect Storm". Here's a guy who's not only addictive (he lived in their attic during the shoot according to rumors) but he also is dedicated to getting into his roles. I'm sure he'll play it fine.

Yeah, I saw a trailer just recently and got pretty excited about it. I haven't been to the theater in a while but I'll probably try to catch this one on the big screen.

Default PG13 rating for Max Payne

Director John Moore had been fighting with the MPAA for a PG13 rating (not wanting to trim any scenes stating that they were the victims of Dark Knight backlash. Here's what Moore had to say after getting the surprising PG13 rating after being marked with the R.

Quote:
I must say, and that's what's a little bewildering about this, I didn't have to change much. We trimmed some frames more for the sake of trimming frames than anything, but we got the rating without any major changes at all. I'm a little surprised that we changed their minds, effectively, but I'm happy about it. It proves that if you stick to your guns and you have the creative, and dare I say moral sense, that you're in the right, that you can get the right thing done.

I just saw a commercial for it today. PG-13? No thanks, I'll wait for the unrated Blu-Ray.

Either way it's teetering on the hard PG13/R lite area

I found this...

Quote:
BIZ: What will gamers have to look forward to when Max Payne eventually comes out on Blu-ray disc and DVD?

JM: There's what I call the Gamer Dedicated Cut of the movie. It's a little slower and a little more atmospheric. There are some rougher edges on it, but it's not going to be a bloodfest. I want this to be the Max Payne that I set out to shoot. It's not that I wanted to release one version in the theaters and make a cheap buck by following up with a blood-drenched DVD version. The movie you see in the theaters will be an intense experience and the movie you see on DVD will be as intense an experience with some extra sensibilities for people who really adore the game.

Lame.

I hate to say it, and I hope I'm wrong, but October is a dumping-ground for movies that studios have no confidence in.

My expectations for this are low, though my hopes are high.
