The movie is much more lighthearted. The story is all over the place, some characters/relationships were devleoped sloppily, etc.

We got the blu-ray I did however not rent it, since I plan on buying it.
Why does the back cover state this as 2.0 Dolby Digital? (blu-ray)

I'll probably pick up the collector's set, but I REALLY hate the artwork. Old Red looks like he's dozing off. Luckily I have the 2 disc dvd Steelbook on its way from Thailand so I'll simply swap them with the Blu-ray discs and give the dvd's to my nephews. The artwork on the SB looks much better.

Yeah, it's at 88% at Rottentomatoes.com so the critics seem to like it.

Anyway, there's always some negativity towards every release so it's not surprising. That's why I always want to watch the movie for myself, it's the only way to be sure.

Thumbs up

I'll buy "Hellboy II" Blu-ray.

I noticed only DTS HD 7.1~! not Dolby Digital HD in the BR-format.

I love it DTS than DD HD. I'll upgrade new my receiver.

My ex co-workers and I are comic book geeks, and we always use new comic book movies as an excuse to get together again. We all saw Hellboy II: The Golden Army over the summer and enjoyed it. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad, and we didn't mind where they were taking the characters with this one. So we really hope Del Toro gives us Hellboy III after he finished The Hobbit. I forgot it was coming out Tuesday until I saw the Best Buy ad in this morning's paper. I plan on getting it, either right away or as a Christmas gift, but it will eventually join my BD collection.

I didn't like it until I saw the lenticular motion in action, how it goes from movie version to comic book, it actually looks pretty cool. I don't know, I would've be fine with the standard cover as I think it looks pretty cool as well but I'm not one to get too bent out of shape over a cover.

What's with that "lackluster" assed box art for the U.S. release?

I want the box art that's on the U.K. release
(You know, the original movie poster?)

The slipcover mentions a digital copy, but I didn't see it in those pics. Is there a third disc?
