Very nice!
So is this going to be re-released with the new transfer in the US?

Unknown for now. Asia has more 4K Mastered Blu-rays in the line, which only can be found in Asia.

Not much, but Jerry Maguire is well worth it:

Off the top of my head: Lawrence of Arabia (yes, I know the standard BD came from 4K also, but this is a high bit-rate 2-disc encode as part of the specific 'Mastered in 4K' product line), Jerry Maguire and The Tourist. Anyone got any more?

[edit] Pieter got there first.

The new transfer was made with the explicit involvement of the film's DP John Bailey, so I'm not gonna worry about a few pixels here and there. YMMV.

Well, that's good to know. What are the chances of us seeing this disc in the U.S. anytime soon?

The framing is different, more info in some places and less in others.

I think it looks excellent personally.

Next year is Jerry Maguire's 20th Aniv. Makes me wonder if a U.S. re-issue is in the works. Sony is releasing Cameron Crowe's new film Aloha this Summer.

No cropping. Just to center the frame. Like Geoff D said: the DP was involved.

Look at this example: Better framing; his head is more centered and more details.

The Blu-ray of 'Se7en' features a remaster process about re-framing, which was done back at the DVD. The DVD was based on a 2K scan. I wonder if the Blu-ray is 2K as well? Never found any info about it. For the Blu-ray again framing, color changes were made.

Quote:
Mastering For the Home Theater (480p) takes viewers on a fascinating journey that showcases the process of transferring Se7en to the home video medium. Included is Audio Mastering with commentary by Brant Biles and Robert Margouleff, Video Mastering with Stephen Nakamura and Evan Edelist commentary, and Color Correction with commentary by Stephen Nakamura. Following the Mastering features is Telecine Gallery (480p), an extra which allows viewers to see and hear three clips from Se7en with two different video masters and two different 5.1 sound elements.

Looks almost like the Sony Ghostbusters II BD, except for the last 2, even though they maintained the highlights, but the contrast has been decreased quite a bit, so there is far less pop to the image. The last one looks very filtered.
Also, it's more yellowish than the first edition, but I doubt it's bothersome in motion. We are only used to the original release, but that doesn't mean it's accurate.

I would love to get the new edition. Bring it on.

Last shot's not filtered. It seems that way due to the lack of excessive sharpening on the U.S. release.

I Just placed an order through CDJapan.

Am I the only one that thinks the current Blu-ray looks better than the Japan 4K Blu-ray?

Yep, the original release is oversharpened with washed out colors and chunky grain.
