Better Value? Sony's PlayStation 3 or Microsoft's Elite 360

Gears of War is the best and worst of the 360. I have played (and beat) this game, and it is a gorgeous game. That beings said, even the developers have let it be known that limitations in 360 hardware have been meet with this game, thus you can easily beat this game in 8 hours of play. I am sorry, but any game you can beat in one day is not a AAA game in my book, no matter how good it looks and plays. I mean if you only get to be awed for one full day of play, than really is it that good?

That is where I equate Resistance to GOW, you cannot beat Resistance in one day, and there are way more levels and more gameplay. Now GoW does look better, and has better graphics, but would you trade that for 1/3 amount of gameplay you get?

I agree at this single point in time, there are more quality games on the 360, and if no other games where released ever for either system, you should get the 360 hands down.

That being said we do not live in a vacuum, we are aware there is a future. Oblivion looks better hands down on PS3 (there are several reviews to support this, but any true gamer would know this just by playing either game.. not to mention you get the expansion pack built in)

Not counting cross-platform games (which at best are going to be a wash, at worst are going to be a plus for PS3) we again look at exclusive titles. Now lets compare those with you again.

Does that compute? Only comparing exclusive games on the game machine only.. where is the future of the 360?


This does not even go to original purpose of this thread comparing the whole of both consoles.. where the PS3 has uniform Hard Drive Support, Blu-Ray player, and HDMI 1.3 across all consoles which blows away 360 in those areas.

I'm not saying you, Jaren613 do this nor am I saying all of you do this, but there are a few people on these threads that do trash talk the 360. The whole memory thing with PS3 vs. 360 I don't know anything about nor do I really care.

Nor do I care who has more hits games coming or who has better specs. Honestly I could care less; I only care about games that I want to play. If there are no games you like to play on the 360 then it's not a good system, same goes for the PS3. Period.

True Facts
1. Playstation 3 has the better specs.
2. Xbox 360 has more games (at the current moment.)

Both systems have good games on them now, both systems have good games coming. I'm looking forward to them all.

I will agree with everything you said including Oblivion looking better on te PS3 & you have an expansion already included. But I personally think Xbox 360 & PC Oblivion(s) are (for now) better. They have 9 expansions out for Oblivion, PS3 has 1 but we're not sure if the rest will come to PS3. Shivering Isles expansion is even better than the main game, I'm having a blast in that crazy world.

What about Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Crackdown, Viva Pinata, Perfect Dark, Dead or Alive 4, Kameo, Halo Wars, and Fable 2, Bioshock, Splinter Cell 5 ( Ubisoft confirmed that the next Splinter Cell title will be exclusive to Xbox 360), Project Gotham Racing 4, Banjo-Kazooie 3, Marvel Universe Online, & Forza Motorsport 2. Does that compute? And FFXIII may see a 360 release. (but I am going to get it for the PS3, just trying to make a point)

Mass Effect and Two Worlds are also exclusives to Xbox 360

It's not official from LucusArt but Star Wars Battlefront III is also going to be an exclusive according to UK video games magazine PSW

I was not listing "ALL" exclusives, only AAA exclusives. I mean the Atari 3600 has more exclusives than either 360 or PS3, that does not make it better.

If you really want to list "ALL" Exclusives, we ca do that do that too, but than we go again to the point of listing games nobody really cares about. Like you stated you own 30 360 games, there are not 30 360 games even the above average gamer wants to play. If you want to list those "30" games, we can pick out 15 that are at best average quality games.

Splinter Cell could possibly be a system seller? But then again, its not for definate a 360 exclusive. But other then that, all those other games are crap or old and either way, like you said, there not system sellers.

The fact is that I see the PS3 worth the 600 bucks already with no games at all. Besides being an excellent high def player, it's a great media center, with HDMI for true high def video and sound and its ability to read usb hard drives that you can fill up with songs and videos. I've already converted tons of TV shows and movies to mp4 format and uploaded to a big usb drive then been able to watch them on my TV.

It can surf the internet, it can use linux, it has the ability to update itself for future proof. It connects to things via bluetooth, uses any accessories, not just Sony brand things... then on top of that it doesn't require a replacement every 6-12 months like a certain console I won't mention.

Yeah it doesn't have the 360's game library. No shit??? It hasn't been out since 2005. Grats to the Xbox for having more games, I was playing my PS2 until a few months ago, because some companies support their consoles more than 3 years, rather than shortening the life cycle and forcing everyone to upgrade before they got the value out of their system purchase... then again Microsoft is the company that wants you to accept they'll make a new model every year and you shouldn't be upset because the car companies do it all the time.(their analogy not mine)

For now Xbox 360 and PS3 is even, interms of graphics. Perhaps the PS3's true potential may be onlocked in time. However, It's first impressions that make or break a video game system that is based totally off graphics.

Why is that MSFT has been constantly adding multimedia features in the Xbox 360? Because they know that HD games is no longer going to cut it, alone. In fact i beilieve Online Play is the sole reason why Xbox is so popular. It has nothing to do with graphics. No other console (right now) has an online service that even matches Xbox Live.

It's also games themselves. PS2 lasted this long not because of graphics, but because of it's extensive library of games which are now very inexpensive, an play just the same as those "cost and arm and a leg" HD sequals on next gen consoles.

Sony just thought out the PS3 a tad better than MSFT. They wanted to produce not just "Another Game console". They were more ambitious than that. they wanted PS3 to be the focal point for Home Entertaiment, and the trojan horse to the Blu-ray format. Which is why everything comes standard out of the box in the true 60GB PS3.

But, MSFT's head start is starting to take it's toll. A larger game library for a console is definately a plus when it comes to value. Sad to say, but at this very moment, the Xbox 360 is the core gamer's dream come true.

Not everyon is tecnologicaly advanced to know how Blu-ray is the true sucesssor to DVD, or even care. Do they know what WIFI is or even if they knew, how many know how to set up a wifi network? People in this forum probably, but what about all those noobs out there, pretty sure you know a lot of them.

Bottom line is that if you don't know how to use the features, those feature are useless. Plus if grapfics is not an issue, then the true system that has more value to the average joe consumer is Xbox 360.

In other word, Xbox 360 and PS3 have diffrent audiences. PS3 is for sufficticated technical elite, and die hard playstation fans. While Xbox 360 is for online gamers and the ignorant masses.

Which will end up victorious in the end? who knows But Xbox 360 definately has the upper hand. Even though I never would buy one myself.

The following was my personal conjecture as I have no proof to back my claims. You may object my point of veiw for your own if you wish.
