I agree. I can't stop thinking about it. And yes, I would imagine the Amrican remake will be some PG-13 travesty with a Miley Cyrus-type starring in it.

I think I should stop getting so psyched for movies when I read people on here raving about it because then it just has my expectations so high there's no way the film can live up to them. This happened with The Dark Knight too. In short, I can understand why people think it's a good movie, but since so many people do, I was thinking it was going to be like on the level of 'There Will Be Blood' or 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', but instead it was more like 'Blow' caliber, good but not quite enough to push it into great status. It definitely has a lot going for it though, especially the fresh take on vampires.

It will be very Twilight-like for sure.

watched it last night, very good. at times I forgot I was watching a "horror" movie. it;s just a good movie which happens to have a vampire in it.

the kids gave great performances. it was touching, funny, and creepy.

I also thought her "dad's" make up in the hospital is what Two Face should have looked like in TDK, instead of the cgi crappery

I have it at home ,and plan to watch it Friday. My son really wants to see it. For the people that have seen it: Is the movie bloody or gory? Thanks!

it does have some gore in it. there is blood: splattering, dripping, some loose limbs. you see numerous shots with the girls' face covered in dried blood

[Show spoiler]The pool scene was crazy. When I was watching it, I really didn't except to see that head hit the water and sink. Then after that I was just waiting for that arm to go. And that kid needs to stop drinking the water

Just watched this last night. Great looking blu-ray. The color and composition for the film was pretty standard for Swedish films, which is wonderful.

As simple as the actual story is, it is very memorable and well done. Chilling and beautiful at the same time.

Me likes.

haha, my wife also commented on that. She asked, and I apologise if this offends someone but here it goes..."So what, does the water turn him retarded or something?" lol. She's got a point.

Yeah, not for kids. Much like El Laberinto del Fauno. Foreign film, beautifully shot, cute young girl at the center of the movie. Many similarities between the two films.

I guess I'm one of the few that liked the movie but didn't think it was "all that". Seems like most folks on here are really gushing about the film. I think it was over-hyped for me, and that hurt it. I enjoyed it- I liked how things played out, and I thought it was well-shot and acted (CGI cats aside). Overall it wasn't bad, but some folks are acting like it's a masterpiece, and that kind of surprises me.

Honestly, as far as vampire movies, I liked 30 Days of Night better. Don't stone me. I just liked the concept there of vampires heading north to where they can really stay out and play.

Thanks for your input. I was starting to feel inadequate for not immediately buying this BD based on the praise being unleashed on it. So I'll rent it instead.

Very few movies that "everyone loves" are actually as good as advertised. That's why I try not to listen when everyone else loves something but I do enjoy vampire movies so I gave this one a shot.

The thing that was more shocking to me was not the climax but the scene just before the credits. And I don't think it is a "fresh take" at all. It very much is rooted in the classic myths instead of changing things like how sunlight affects them, etc. The title says it all.

Can you elaborate why you thought that scene was more shocking? Maybe PM me, if you want.
