Nice. Wish I held on to those along with the original TNMT on VHS. Anyone else feel old due to this release?

Just picked these up, the slipcover look great. Especially compared to the previous X-Men: TAS released in which the covers had nothing to do with the episodes contained within.

The Phoenix Saga DVD had Magneto fighting a Sentinel on it. That didn't happen in TPS.

Picking this up after work! Can't sit still! Was home sick a few weeks ago and saw some episodes re-running on one of the Disney channels and was freakin pumped! I know what I'm doing this weekend!

Amazon has a value price of $30.98, when you buy both Vol 1 and Vol 2.

I also noticed, the DVDs have an insert for Blu-ray video. You would've though Disney would have pre-planned this. But then again, look how long it's taken then to release the series on DVD. It'll be another 20 years before we see it on blu.

Watched the first two episodes... the Night Of The Sentinels 2-parter.

It looks pretty damn good upconverted. Surprisingly clean transfers. And even better, it's the later finished versions of the episodes... not the two they aired early with unfinished art. I doubt on Blu-Ray it would look much better, so I don't mind having it on DVD. Especially for the price. Both for $35 at Best Buy.

They are just missing a few scenes / dialogue which is kinda annoying when you have watched the episodes hundreds of times. Like when Jubilee runs into storm and Rogue in the mall and storm says 'I believe it's called youth Rogue'. Or when Gambit is running back to the girl and she comments on him rushing back to her. Small things are cut but it's still amazing. I have already watched the first 6 episodes. I am so happy with the release !

It's been so long...

Those scenes/lines of dialogue may have only been on the unfinished version of those two episodes.

I guess we'll never know for sure, since it's been so long.

The only one I remember was in the first Night of the Sentinels. When Jubilee is first captured in the mall by a Sentinel and Storm says "Storm, mistress of the elements, commands you to release that child." Then when she "changes" from street clothes to her costume (since when was this one of her mutant powers?), she says "I said release her!"

On other viewings, this line has been left out.

I love this show. I grew up watching it. It's one of the best cartoons next to Batman TAS. I should be getting mine from Amazon in a day or two. I look forward to re-watching it with my son now.

Storm changing her costume like that happened occassionally in the comics.
The X-Men use unstable molecules costumes. Created by Mr. Fantastic, of course.
By applying an electrical charge, Storm can change hers from Street Clothes to her costume.

Yeah, those lines were only in the original unfinished versions.

From TV.Com:

Night Of The Sentinels Pt. 1:

The original "preview" version (aired only once) featured not only mistakes (in the opening, Xavier's name logo in opening colored gray, Magneto has coloring mistakes in his costume, and day and night background inconsistancies; Cyclops' glasses when visiting Jubilee's parents are black instead of red; Rogue is incorrectly in costume in Gyrich's picture; Gambit's eyes were often normal colored; Beast often lacked the shadows in his hair and fur; Jubilee is sitting in the War Room when the team is watching the President's speech; the shot of the soldiers at the end had them in red riot gear instead of green uniforms) but also two lines which ended up being edited out in all repeats (when Rogue asks "what bug crawled up her shorts?" Storm replies "I believe it's called youth, Rogue", and after Gambit saves the female store clerk she responds "well, call me irresistible!").

Night Of The Sentinels Pt 2:

The original "preview" airing of this episode (which aired only once) featured many mistakes which were corrected with the version that aired starting January 9, 1993: The opening credits still had the same mistakes as the first ep; the perspective of Wolverine against the Sentinel made them both look the wrong size; Rogue's bare hand was green like her bodysuit instead of bare when touching Logan; Gambit's eyes were colored normal often; Gambit's expression when touching Wolverine's shoulder after losing Morph was less sad (and the background colored wrong); Beast still had a lack of shading; Storm's lightning attacks against the Sentinels were missing effects; Rogue smashed into the ground without leaving an impact crater; the guard taking Beast didn't talk back to the Sentinel; Wolverine stabbing the Sentinel in the back wasn't as long a scene; and the shot of Cyclops firing at a Sentinel was missing.

Well, David Nakayama is working on the art for Vol. 3 and 4.

So probably when Wolverine comes to Blu-Ray later this year.

Sales look good so far. Amazon has X-Men Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 at #8 and #10.

I still have these 2 episodes. Most of what is described here is true, but some are not. I wish they kept some of those lines though, especially the "call me irresistible" line.
